Doctor Who: The Whovian Review

Reaching back into the vaults we came across an episode that never made it to distribution, and although great attempts to post this one episode, it never found its way out of the missing vault! So without further ado, we present our recently found again episode from the Season 6 era. Look for more recovered episodes from the past coming this year, both for The Whovian Review, and Doctor Who!

Warren and Jon give their take as classic fans, and then my son Jeremy gives his take as a newer fan of this infamous story. Do any of us consider this the worst story in Doctor Who's history? Is there anything redeeming with this particular tale? Who rates this story higher than everyone else, and who will suggest that there is some actual character development happening in the story. If we could just get past episode 1, and more to the point this story has the greatest range in scores during this one podcast I believe I have seen yet!

Father and son duo Michael and Jeremy both talk about the greatest 5th Doctor story. What will someone think of it in 2026 after seeing the whole thing for the first time? Also, stay tuned toward the end for Warren's review of this popular story!

But will the fate of one companion change the Doctor forever? Beautifully realized given the budget, but we have some complaints. We watched the DVD version. Soon the BluRay for Season 21 will be out with an all new version. Can't wait!

Jeremy, Warren, and Michael zip through this shorter 2 part story from Season 21. The Malus wreaks havoc on modern day Earth which happens to put Tegan's Grandfather in danger! Peter Davison, Janet Fielding and Mark Strickson lead the cast of this 1984 underrated story.

Warren, Jon, and Michael take a look at the first story from Season 21. The Myrka gets karate chopped in the most hilarious way, but what did we really think about this 5th Doctor story? Does the base under siege story hold up, or does it sink beneath the myrky waters?

Warren and Michael take a look at this Patrick Troughton classic from Season 4. Ben, Polly, Jamie, and the Doctor all go to a very happy world where everyone loves working, and entertaining the general population, but all may not be as happy as one might think.

Warren and Michael take a look at this classic story DVD with animated episodes 1 and 3. The animation is stellar, atmospheric, and rather close to the feel of the original episodes! But how does the story hold up with us? A solid classic, a masterpiece, or a dud? Is the Doctor a little demanding? Does Jamie have much to do here? Do the Cybermen enjoy sugar? 

Like the story, the production values for this audio are a little lower than usual due to a change in computer at the time of recording. Turn up your volume to hear John, Warren, and Michael discuss this classic Patrick Troughton story! We will be bringing you some more Patrick Troughton stories as we watch them! 

This podcast was recorded last November, but we decided to wait until all of the other Tom Baker stories were released before posting his final story. The swan song that most had an emotional response to due to the man himself, Tom Baker, left the role, and turned it over to Peter Davison! This was such a fun episode to edit and talk about. The Watcher, The Master, Adric, Tegan Jovanka, the return of Nyssa, radio towers, planets full of mathematicians, logic, materializing the TARDIS underwater, and so much more chaos and fun kept us wondering what would happen next. Enjoy!

Shada, the one never completed Classic Doctor Who story is our topic today! This story has been told, retold, reedited, animated, released on audio with different Doctors, and has had two K9 actors take on Douglas Adam's curious script. We watch the most recent version included on the Season 17 Bluray release. Warren, Jeremy, and unsurprisingly Michael are on this one again.

Warren, Jeremy, and Michael try to count down the rankings for this particular story that made us laugh, and gave us some joy to watch thanks to Tom Baker being there to begin with. As the first ever VHS release for this show, was this a worthy story to be number 1? Harry Sullivan is an imbecile, Sarah Jane attracts Cybermats, and gold seems to be the scariest part of this story (for Cybermen).

Tears, joy, chaos, missed opportunities, last minute changes, and Billie?! We discuss all of the points, and dissect this story from start to finish. The most intense edit I've had to do in a while, but totally worth it.

The Rani finds the seventh son of the seventh son of the seventh son who turns out to be a wishing child. Conrad wishes a whole world where the roles of everyone in the Whoniverse have changed drastically, and the Doctor and Belinda have a child, Poppy!? The Rani, er the Master like Rani, has huge plans to bring back someone else from the Doctor's past, but in the meantime we need to tackle the review of this first part to the finale of Season 2 or as many know it, season 15.

Dugga Doo everyone! We sing our praises or dissent on this lavish episode with reveals, action, harmony, and little pink alien creatures singing one of the weirdest and most catchy cute songs of 2025. We dive into this tale of the Doctor dropping in at a local barber's shop in Nigeria. Being forced into the chair to tell stories, the Doctor doesn't realize he is generating fuel for the barbershop which exists in an alternate plane of existence, and needs stories in order to generate movement. Lets see how the actual author's of the group react to this story. (Shelby and Jeremy the Elder). 

Colin, Shelby, and Michael tackle this Doctor lite episode which is the fourth in Disney's Season 2. Ruby Sunday returns for another outing as she works for UNIT and meets Conrad, a podcasting hottie, who turns her head and heart towards someone who appears kind like the Doctor.
