  • #144 For People With Big Ideas But Just Can't Reach The Finish Line. My Number One Tip

    16/11/2020 Duración: 21min

This episode is for all my idea people out there. Does this sound like you? -You wake up in the morning sometimes and are mad you didn’t write down something you thought of while sleeping. -You have constant ideas that you think are amazing but can't seem to get them off the ground. -Your friends come to your for your advice, you are great at finding the right solution for them -You always see the bigger picture -You sometimes can’t articulate your many different ideas. If any of these resonate with you, then you are like me, and for years I thought something was wrong with me. I would have ideas.. big ideas… great ideas. I would then try and act on my grand ideas, and something would hold me back from ever fulfilling them. I would reach a road block, something I didn’t know how to do, or something that was extremely intimidating to learn about. I would give up on that great idea, and usually end up feeling like a failure. Maybe the idea wasn’t so great after all. Maybe I suck at this. I am here to tell you t

  • #143 Vulnerability and The Stories We Tell Ourselves

    30/09/2020 Duración: 22min

I wrote the post below before I recorded today. After I had posted it, I realized that I needed to record more of what I was feeling about this podcast my husband and I listened to this morning. Tune in.  The episode featured Brene Brown on The Science of Success podcast episode. In my recording, I go off the rails here a bit talking about becoming the best versions of ourselves, and also my wellness program I am creating. I put it out there, it was scary, but I am all about changing my own narrative over here, and part of that is breaking down my fears. :) Hope you enjoy!   Original Post---I can’t say enough about Brene Brown. I got introduced to her during my yoga training, and haven’t stopped listening to her since.  She zooms in on the vulnerability and shame we all feel which are two of some of the HARDEST subjects to face. I tell people over and over, the strongest humans are the ones that will look within, find a therapist, get help, and uncover patterns and habits that do not serve you, or the pe

  • #142 Owning Who You are Now, and Not Who You Were

    22/09/2020 Duración: 32min

I was pretty scared to write this, it started as an simple Instagram or Facebook post, but then when I finally started writing it, it became long. I figured it may be better as a blog post instead, so here I am. I wanted to reintroduce myself. I feel everyone is going through a transition right now with the state of the world, and honestly, that isn’t a bad thing it just means more time to be introspective. This year has been stressful and moment to moment we all question certain decisions we have made. I have been looking back on my life and for the first time, I am at a point where I see no mistakes. None! How could any of my decisions have been mistakes, they made me who I am today. This is an easy thing to acknowledge to yourself, but to really digest it prove difficult. Looking back, there was a choice in my life that I saw my shift. The girl that got on a plane alone, scared to death to fly overseas in 2004 to work on tomb excavation in Italy. That was the moment I started weaving who I wanted to be. M

  • Paige Davis from TLC's "Trading Spaces" on Marta on the Move Podcast -Talks History of "Trading Spaces", Life During Social Distancing, Body Image, Being a Libra and more.

    19/06/2020 Duración: 54min

You know her name, and her amazing personality from the hit show Trading Spaces on TLC. Paige Davis hasn't stopped since being cast in the show in 2001. She has starred on Broadway, and you have seen her on Ellen, Oprah, Entertainment Tonight and more. In 2018 she rejoined as host for the "Trading Spaces" reboot, and I was so pumped to be able to catch up with her in New York. We talk about her history being cast in the show, how she isn't the person to ask about DIY projects, body image, being a libra, (We are the best!), keeping an at home workout routine during Covid, and more. I love Paige, and wanted to do something special for this episode since she had recently lost her close friend and "Trading Spaces" designer Frank Bielec, along with her uncle a few weeks ago. I brought to the show four of Paige's closest friends to challenge her in a game of "Two Truths and a Lie." It was a HILARIOUS and heart felt time. Hope you enjoyed this episode as much as I did. Paige, us two Libra's shall dance togeth

  • #139 Sailing on a Boat During Coronavirus with Will Clower

    05/06/2020 Duración: 26min

Friend Will Clower and his wife sold everything and bought a boat to sail around the world. They have been on this vessel for almost two years. I had to have him on the show to hear about how they are dealing with coronavirus right now, and also how islands are working through food, drink and supply shortages. I also secretly would love to do what they did, and wanted to hear for myself what it is like giving up all and switching to boat life for good. Where are his favorite stops? If he had to post up anywhere, where would it be? What place is truly "off the grid" and lovely. Grab a drink as we cheers each other and YOU with our respective beverages, and away we go! Come join us! Tahiti Where Will is Currently. (Having trouble feeling bad lol) This episode is sponsored by Kingly Spirits! A pittsburgh based distillery in the heart of the Strip District. I personally made a cocktail for this episode with their Bliss Aged Rum and the Nonino Italian Liqueur and I am in heaven! I hate to admit that

  • #137 Elsa Santos Takes us to Azores in Portugal and Talks Portuguese Cuisine and Travel Tips

    22/05/2020 Duración: 27min

I have been adding video podcasts in addition to my audio casts for Marta on the Move. I do it all myself (snooze) so I will be limiting the amount of words on these blog posts. Besides, you came for the audio/video anyways. :) Today I connect with Elsa Santos owner of Azorean Cafe in Pittsburgh, PA. Elsa is from the Azores in Portugal, and while I have visited the main parts of Portugal, I have never stepped foot on the Azores! I cannot wait to visit. This episode is all about the cuisine. Food, food and more food. I have found Portuguese cuisine to be so diverse. They have the comfort food that goes back in history, but they are also on the cusp of innovative creations. My hubby and I did a post on where to eat and drink in Lisbon, and I couldn't wait to talk with Elsa about the customs and creations of the Azores. Enjoy! Cod Fritter Recipe! 4 tablespoons of olive oil 500g of desalted and shredded cod ½ chopped onion 1 clove of minced garlic salt Black pepper 500g of boiled potatoes 1 egg ½ packe

  • #136 Barbara Garcia- Bernardo Talks About Isolation in Madrid Spain

    14/05/2020 Duración: 27min

Yeah well, this episode was supposed to be released first, but it ended up being second, and honestly... nobody knows what day it is anyways, so it doesn't matter. Moving on! My friend Barbara is in her native country of Spain in the Capital city of Madrid currently. She has been there since her mom passed away from Cancer in February. Barbara and I met in Pittsburgh as fellow yoga teachers, and she runs a company call Get Hip Records. A super cool place where you can download tracks, visit events ( online currently), and get your hands on some cool records for your music isolation needs. I wanted to chat her up about what life has been like in Spain, the general feeling of the population, and also are things coming back to life and in what order? We also chat about what she is watching in isolation (Which is a burning question in my mind) Tune in! Where should we go next? ~M

  • #135 Video Podcast Miguel Angel Navarro from Barcelona Talking about Food and Drink

    05/05/2020 Duración: 19min

Yes, this is a HUGE leap for Marta, folks. She is a moron about figuring out technology, but many thanks to the huge help of friends, namely Brad over at Leveling Up Your Game, I was able to achieve this. This aren't really interviews, they are meant to be travel inspirations. We will sometimes chat about food, wine, living like a local, what they are watching on quarantine, etc. the conversation ebbs and flows, and it is fueling my spirit to be able to connect with people all around the world. That is what we are looking for right now, connection. I hope you enjoy these episodes. I am not sure if I will stick with video after all this is done (Honestly, seeing my face live is super weird), but while this is all going on, you will. This episode features my great friend Miguel! We talk to Miguel about food and drink in Barcelona region and also traditional cooking methods for paella. We met Miguel in Barcelona while traveling because we noticed his paella cooking class. It was the best time and we remained clo

    13/03/2020 Duración: 29min

#134 Jennifer Link - How to live a Minimalist Traveling Lifestyle and Travel Fulltime for Work. Hey all! Sorry to take such a long break, but winter and my onesie were calling to me to chill out for a bit and slow down. I am back and super pumped to talk about the theme for this year for the podcast which is all about travel. This year, will be interviewing folks from various towns abroad to hear the inside scoop on where they live, why they love it there, and what you need to know before you plan your visit. I will also be talking to people who inspire me with their travels domestically that have paved a new life for themselves. Why the sudden focus on travel? I am taking a six month trip for my 40th birthday next year! I figured this was a great way to inspire myself, and get me pumped to take on the planning for this epic journey. If I am being honest, it is a bit scary and intimidating, BUT if the solo travels in my past have taught me anything, it is that being scared is a great sign! It means you are st

  • Nick Adkins Co-founder of Pink Socks Life

    19/11/2019 Duración: 39min

Tis the season I say for giving and kindness. There is no better guest I can think of than Nick Atkins. If you happen to see a man wearing a kilt around town, that is probably Nick. Long beard, usually rocking a hat and kilt, and a distinct pair of socks. Bright pink ankle socks with moustaches strewn upon them. I was introduced to Nick through a mutual friend Larry Gioia.
