Black Women Are Not the Mammy for Every Movement
20/07/2021 Duración: 37minIt's true. Black women are great warriors and strategists. We come from cultures that are filled with love, compassion, and resilience. People around the world have always had needs, but so do we. "Mammyism" That's a term I am hearing more and more often. "Mammyism" is the demand for Black women and Black girls to do more while continuing to accept that they will get less. One of the major tenets of Mammyism is that Black women and Black girls labor for people who have no intention, and therefore no plan to labor for us in return. When we say that I want everyone to be safe, healthy, and get all of their financial needs met, I mean Black women too. Strong Woman's Guide to Teaching Healthy Boundaries to Kids
29/06/2021 Duración: 36minNotes from this episode: A child who grows up in a home having healthy limits will also learn to apply such boundaries in his own life. What Does “Boundary” mean? A boundary signifies a limit that a person has. Can be physical or emotional. Boundaries are like contracts, “I won’t do anything to harm you” and “I expect you not to do anything to harm me. When you’re raising kids to have healthy boundaries, it’s important to allow the children to have and express their own feelings. The best way to teach children healthy boundaries is for parents to have healthy boundaries themselves and to model them in the home. Showing respect for each person in the house, ensuring everyone has rights to their feelings and appropriate expressions of them, and talking openly and honestly about any challenging issues demonstrate healthy boundaries for children. Why Do Women Have to Talk So Ugly
27/02/2021 Duración: 10min*Trigger Warning* (nongraphic discussion of child abuse) "If we women and girls were better protected, there would be no ugliness to speak of." Women & girls who speak about the violence and abuse that they experienced are often accused of being "vile" even hateful. This is wrong and unacceptable. Women and girls are only telling true stories about violence inflicted upon them. If we women and girls were better protected, there would be no ugliness to speak of. Tonya GJ Prince tells a short story about how language is important to Survivors of sexual violence. She talks about how a television movie finally gave her language to break the silence around years of child abuse. __________________________________ Tonya GJ Prince from WESurviveAbuse.com, SurvivorAffirmations.com, and BraidtheLadder.org gives voice to healthful affirmations and reminders. Men Silencing Women with the Aid of Other Women? Again.
12/02/2021 Duración: 26minWomen are being silenced. Again. Social changes are happening and that is a great thing. Social conversations are going deeper and reaching into the long-neglected cracks and crevices, that's a great thing too. In the midst of all of this, women's safety and health is being discussed but women who wish to weigh in on their needs and concerns are being fired, shunned, disregarded, and labeled. Same obstacle, different day. Let women have their say. Tonya GJ Prince talks about the familiarity of people who use this silencing tactic with people who accuse Black people of using "the race card" what i --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/survivoreye/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/survivoreye/support

Unspoken Truths About Differences Between Women
12/01/2021 Duración: 23minA quote by Audre Lorde tells us that: "It is not our differences that divide us. It is our inability to recognize, accept, and celebrate those differences.
