Through revisiting places from her childhood and using old photographs and postcards of the area, Kiely was able to reflect on her mother Maisie’s life and recent passing. In this episode Eve chats about what drew her to the character of Brigid Cleary, about how her one-woman show on the Bold Brigid has evolved since it's premiere at Clonmel Junction Arts Festival 2018, and her future plans for the show. Written and performed by Eve O'Mahony, "Brigid Cleary" tells the story of the infamous witch-burning during the turn of the 20th Century.The one-woman show describes the life and events which led to the death of Brigid Cleary, the last woman to be burned in Ireland. She is accused of being a changeling and is ultimately burned to death at the hands of her husband in Tipperary in 1895. The character of Brigid is the main narrator throughout the performance but her story is also told by a host of other characters. She tells the bittersweet story of her life as a successful businesswoman living in a patriarchal society and the details which lead to her tragic death.This moving play brings forth a whole slew of issues - issues of

"Irish Revolutionary Women; Histories, Memories, Legacies" Prof Mary McAuliffe (UCD)
10/06/2019 Duración: 01h09minAs part of the Decade of Commemoration celebration, artist Theresia Guschlbauer is revisiting her Women of the Rising re-enactment project which involved 65 Tipperary based women in an exploration of women’s role in the 1916 Rising. The project was launched on Thursday 16th May with an introductory lecture by UCD Professor Dr. Mary MacAuliffe at the Main Guard at, under the title: Irish Revolutionary women; histories, memories, legacies. The lecture is free of charge and will present a fascinating account of the cultural and political landscape of the time. An exhibition will follow at South Tipperary Arts Centre from 23rd May which will invite inquiry into some of the revolutionary women and their contemporary relevance through images, textiles, objects and documents, and delve into how they went about highlighting the issues close to their hearts. 05/04/2019 Duración: 28minTransitionAn exhibition curated from the Arts Council Collection by 5th year Loreto students.South Tipperary Arts Centre, in conjunction with the Tipperary Arts Office and The Arts Council, devised a project, in which the 5th Year students of the Loreto Convent Secondary School would work with Arts Council’s historic art collection with the aim of curating a show of artworks and to engage with the process of curating. The resulting exhibition features works which the students themselves chose and features an audio segment in which the pupils discuss their decisions and methods of curation. Featured within ‘Transition’, are the works of John Behan, Carmel Benson, Pauline Bewick, Melanie leBrocquy, Jennifer Brady, Michelle Brown, Amanda Coogan, Dorothy Cross, Mary Ann Duffy, Anita Groener, Dragana Jurisic, and Helena Kelly.
