Sinopsis

Niousha Noor joins Kyle Meredith to talk about The Persian Version. The film, loosely based on Maryam Keshavarz’s life, also stars Layla Mohammadi and tells the story of a young, gay Iranian-American woman who is often at odds with her family, particularly with her mother, and especially after getting pregnant from a one-night stand with a Hedwig and the Angry Inch actor. The actress discusses how the film focuses on an immigrant family in ways that we don’t usually get to see on screen and the combative relationship between the mother and daughter. Noor also tells us how music plays such a big part of the movie, from 80s pop to 2000s indie rock (Rostam Batmanglij was the music supervisor), how she was an N*SYNC fan back in the day, and that she recorded her own Persian version of Damien Rice’s “Under The Tongue” that she plans to release soon. This month, we’re on a mission to spread the word about Kyle Meredith W... far and wide, and you’re our secret weapon.
