The Hebrew word translated as desire pictures a fish hook! Like a fish who has taken the bait and swallowed the hook, we can be reeled in any direction. That can work for us or against us. Righteousness can be a desire. When we hunger and thirst for righteousness, we are “hooked.” God gave us the capacity for desire. He wants us to use it for our good and not our destruction.
