Suffering & God’s Response Pt. 6: God Chooses to Suffer By Louie Marsh, 4-13-2025   1) God’s Response to Suffering   · He suffered WITH us.   “21From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.” (Matthew 16:21, ESV)   This includes the incarnation, his choosing to give up his divine power (Phil 2) etc.   · He suffered LIKE us.   “40And when he came to the place, he said to them, “Pray that you may not enter into temptation.” 41And he withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, and knelt down and prayed, 42saying, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.” 43And there appeared to him an angel from heaven, strengthening him. 44And being in agony he prayed more earnestly; and his sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.” (Luke 22:40–44, ESV)   Sweating blood, known as hematidrosis, i
