His widely-read 2008 article in The Atlantic, "Is Google Making Us Stupid?" was followed by a book in 2010, The Shallows, which was a Pulitzer Prize finalist. His most recent book, Utopia is Creepy, collects his best essays, blog posts, and other writings from the past dozen years, providing an alternative history of our tech-besotted time. We talk to Nick about the influence technology has on our behavior and minds, how to break its hold on our attention, and which movies provide the most accurate portrayal of the AI takeover of humankind.
