As the Messiah, the Son of God and Son of Man, Jesus would do many things demonstrating that He was Lord of all. This includes His authority over the demonic realm. The demonic realm understands that Jesus is the Son of God. The demons that possessed people immediately knew who Jesus was. There is no eternal struggle between good and evil going on with the outcome in the balance. The devil and his minions can do nothing but what Jesus allows.
