Why would Jesus want to be baptized by John the Baptist- He is the God-man- He is sinless-therefore, why be baptized. John the Baptist initially tried to stop Jesus stating that he -John- needed to be baptized by Jesus. Jesus said that He must be baptized so that all righteousness might be fulfilled.
