Kansas Sen. Laura Kelly, D-Topeka, said motivation to enter the race for governor was derived from a sense of obligation to correct policy mistakes of Republican Govs. Sam Brownback and Jeff Colyer. She also studied the field of Democratic candidates and concluded none possessed the right combination of experience, leadership and relationships to get the job done.
