Naureen Abubacker from the Widening Access team at Birkbeck discusses leading the development of the Compass Project, a ground-breaking initiative that is driven to improving access to higher education for forced migrants, and also funds places for 20 asylum seekers to begin their studies in the UK. One of the students, Gifty from Zimbabwe, also joins us to chat about her experiences with the programme and how she has settled into life in London.
