Born in Chicago and transplanted to South Florida, Joey Ruiz originally was part of the family business selling cars at his Father’s dealership.  He retired at 40 to pursue his passion for auctions which led him to become a state certified auctioneer. Not one for being idle, Ruiz opened his own antiques and collectibles shop called Wayback When where the running theme of the shop is a celebration of nostalgia. From the video game museum to horror props and memorabilia, children of the 50’s-90’s rediscover their childhood with each visit as current children are taught not only about toys of the past but learn the foundations of becoming a collector. Joey never forgets the lessons of his own upbringing and advice passed to him by his Dad over the years and has a soft spot for veterans and aspiring artists.
