After the war cabinet  discussed Israel’s options in response to the mounting Hizbullah rocket and drone fire on northern Israel, PM Netanyahu toured Kiryat Shmona and vowed that Israel is ready for a very powerful response.  IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi  said Tuesday that the political leadership would have to come to a decision soon whether to launch an offensive in Lebanon. The Taub Center for Social Policy Studies in Israel has released its annual “Picture of the Nation” today, presenting findings on the economy, health, education, health and more. Prof. Avi Weiss, President of the Taub Center and professor of economics at Bar Ilan University said the war was impacting strongly but that Israel’s economy was showing itself to be resilient. An expanded panel of nine High Court justices heard six petitions against the widespread military service exemptions granted to ultra-Orthodox men and the government stipends to yeshivot for students who no longer have a legal exemption. The petitions come after the recent expiration of a contentious government decision extending an arrangement for the draft exemptions, which itself expired a year ago. Advocate Shlomit Ravitsky Tur-Paz, the head of the Jacob’s Center for Shared Society at the Israel Democracy Institute, said the justices were more inclined than ever before to actually rule on the draft deferment issue that has dragged on for decades since the reality in Israel had changed, mainly because of the war and need for more soldiers. US President Joe Biden on Friday presented what he called the latest Israeli proposal for a hostage release and ceasefire deal to end the Gaza war. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said over the weekend the conditions for ending the war in Gaza have not changed. The Passport Ensemble's new work "Falling Out of Time," is an adaption of author David Grossman's book of the same name, on the journey of bereaved parents to reach their lost children. Through the exploration of grief, it also offers a  glimmer of solace. In this new production mounted at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art,  the actors move through the building's spaces, bringing the audience with them. IDF forces were operating in central Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip this week, as the military released initial findings indicating that a fire that caused Palestinian civilian casualties following an earlier strike on two Hamas commanders was likely ignited by a secondary explosion of munitions belonging to the terror group.  Brig. In a survey conducted by the "Het'orerut”  movement, a disturbing picture emerges that shows the extreme lack of trust of Israeli citizens in the police. According to the survey, almost half (47%) of Israeli citizens do not trust the police. Among the ultra-Orthodox - 52% do not believe in the police. It also shows that 48% of Israelis testify that under National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gavir, their degree of trust in the police decreased. Shanna Orlik, the CEO and founder of the movement Het’orerut, or Rise, said that it was a sign of politicalization of the police. But she told reporter Arieh O’Sullivan it was reversible. The Beatles are coming to Jerusalem, well, with a little help from their friends. A Spring music festival is taking place Thursday, May 30th of Beatles tribute bands. This concert is being hosted at an interesting venue, the Kfar Shaul Mental Health Center in Givat Shaul. It’s the first time that the mental health center, which is housed on beautiful grounds, has agreed to open its gates to a music festival. Organizer Tracey Shipley, a creative therapist working with youth mostly through music and who ran the Woodstock Festivals in Jerusalem, spoke with reporter Arieh O’Sullivan on not only the physical, but psychological importance of the concert and music now. Israel is not telling the narrative about Hizbullah, which has dropped off the Western world radar decades ago, and the country needs to refit its messaging if it intends to deal with Hizbullah because every Israeli deserves the right to live in peace and security in their country. This according to Cliff Sobin, an author of three books on Hizbullah and Israel. He told reporter Arieh O’Sullivan that messaging needs to grab attention, be emotional and be informative.
