Episode 98! Our first recording in 2021! J's having Charles Shaw's Organic Pinot Grigio and K's just having water after forgetting she only had one glass of her Louis Jadot Pinot Noir  left and she already drank it. This week we're catching up on projects we worked on over the holidays and the challenges we encountered. J had a productive holiday season, craft-wise, making several hats, a cowl, and starting a new amigirumi kit, while K enjoyed (but struggled a bit!) with the Christmas gift J gave her and also started a new commissioned cross-stitch project, leading to challenges with supplies at Michaels! K and J also both did substantial cooking/baking over the holiday. Thanksgiving is J's favorite holiday, but she's willing to make the sacrifice of not seeing family this year to keep everyone safe. K's Thanksgiving plans aren't much different from a regular year, but that's because she has a small bubble she's operating in. We also talk about COVID-testing, Flu vaccines, and what the hell is going on at CVS. K's been baking again and made a new cat toy and J finished her blanket and is thinking about next projects. What's up? Nothing's going on this week, right? K's having Southern Tier Brewing's Salted Caramel Imperial Stout, which she describes as "dessert in a glass," and J's having Downeast Cider's Double Blend Cider, which is a high ABV cider. We recorded this pre-election day and decided to talk about the difficulties of having pets who are sick (specifically cats) as well as Halloween SNOW (BOOO) to not give ourselves more anxiety. Topics include: pet accidents, not knowing why your pet is sick, giving meds to your pet, vet trauma, and pet food preferences. J's still working on her Christmas gift blanket and K's finished a log cabin square and is working on a baby blanket. In short: WOMEN'S CLOTHING IS A SCAM. J has made incredible progress on her project for her CPE cohort members. K taught herself a new knitting technique. J goes on a mini-rant about her coffee order, but then we jump into this week's main topic, email responses. Topics include: not answering questions in emails, using one word answers, not answering emails in a timely manner, how to get people to successfully answer emails, people who email you questions you can't answer, and passive-aggressive email etiquette. Diversions into websites and take-out orders also occur. J's making gifts for her CPE cohort (after going to Michael's 3x in a week!) and K delivered some knitted knockers to a local hospital and frogged some projects she's been meaning to get to and re-started her shawl! Episode 83! Happy first weekend of Fall, everybody! J's drinking Francis Coppola Diamond Collection Pinot Grigio, which is fruit-forward and is good with salad and K's having J. Lohr Seven Oaks Cabernet Sauvignon which her husband believes she will like. Today's topic is science. Why you should listen to scientists, what the scientific method is, accepting change, how climate change works, and whether there really is a conflict between science and religion (guess what our answer is!). J's started a new Christmas gift project and learned two new crochet stitches and K's been working hard at getting Knitted Knockers made for a local hospital. J heard from a friend who gives us some news about John Hodgman and K tried out a new local craft brewery.
