To raise awareness about the challenges faced by women who have lost their husbands and are left without support, the UN General Assembly designated June 23 as International Widows' Day with a resolution passed at the end of 2010. - உலக முழுவதும் கணவன்மார்களை இழந்து ஆதரவின்றி தவிக்கும் பெண்களின் நிலை குறித்து விழிப்புணர்வை ஏற்படுத்தும் விதத்திலும், அவர்களின் துயரைத் துடைக்கும் வகையிலும் ஜூன் 23 ஆம் தேதியை சர்வதேச விதவைகள் தினமாக (International Widows' Day)அறிவித்து, 2010 ஆம் ஆண்டு இறுதியில் ஐ.நா. பொதுச் சபை தீர்மானம் நிறைவேற்றியுள்ளது.
