Trey has his finger on the pulse of the moral issues that affect our churches and our families. Today we look at the current SCOTUS cases on trans athletes in women’s sports. Trey gives us the rundown on those cases and why he has reason for optimism. Then we look at the first amendment as it relates to protesters storming churches. Whether it’s for attention or to bait Christians about race and their perspectives on what is important, we have to see what our rights are as believers. Tim and Mary Danielsen take a look at the current news cycle, of course a continuation of the previous one – and yet the incremental increase in chaos and wickedness bears mentioning. “Waiting for the other shoe to drop” is one way to describe the edge-of-the-seat posture that today’s headlines tend to invoke. But in the case of the unknown shoe, it very much applies to that global war that seems to be always in the next news cycle. Are nations just being very cautious? Or is there more maneuvering going on? Some say that Trump and the right are warmongerers, but a case could be made that the Dems have been responsible for all the major wars of the last 150 years. Either way, whether it’s global war, civil war in the states, the economy or the Mideast, shoes could all drop at once one of these days, redefining chaos as we have known it. Everything from the state of biblical authority to tech to self-induced isolation from each other. Americans are unique in the world in our emphasis on independence and personal freedoms – that “personal relationship” that is not meant to be stuffed into a bottle but translate into evangelizing, fulfilling the “one anothers” and bearing each others burdens. But all too often all we are seeing is the warning that Paul gave Timothy about the last days and lovers of selfism. Choosing a church based on emotion and what’s in it for us is a community killer. Middle America and those who remember what this nation is built upon – what society has always been structured around – aren’t giving up, and they still hold to traditional values. On this final headline cycle of 2025, we find ourselves looking at headlines that aren’t terribly surprising. In fact, once again, the main casualty of the world is TRUTH. Everything flows from that. What we lose we can never get back when it comes to fabrications all around us. So we start out by looking at the continuing degradation of truth in the culture outside of Christ. Then we take a page from our “willful ignorance” file, the one that tells us that the people running Australia willfully suppress the truth, just like Romans says will happen. So while that’s not terribly profound, we all get a week or two to remember to number our days and God says that’s wisdom. While we’re thinking about it, we often resort to New Year’s resolutions to ease the pain of past fails. It might be related to our behaviour, our self-discipline or lack thereof, but we all understand starting fresh, turning a page. But outside of Christ, is wholesale change really just a fantasy? Today is a special teaching from host Dave Wager. He slows down the Christmas story and reads Luke 2:1–21, letting the details land, Caesar’s decree, Joseph and Mary’s trip to Bethlehem, the manger, the angel’s announcement, the sky filled with praise, and the shepherds rushing in to see what God had made known. From there, Dave brings in reflections from V. Raymond Edmond’s 1960 book Wiser Than They Thought, using imagined conversations and scenes to help us picture what it may have felt like for real people to be standing in the middle of something they could not fully explain. The shepherds are shown as working a routine night shift when heaven interrupts it, and Dave uses that to challenge listeners to stop assuming God only works in “big moments.” He can move in the middle of the normal day, if we’re paying attention. As the program continues, Dave connects the shepherds’ encounter to other “windows into eternity” in Scripture. He points to Luke 15, where Jesus says there is joy before the angels of God

As we celebrate another Christmas on this side of eternity, we want to halt the news in its tracks (since there are never good tidings nor great joy most weeks) and talk about Isaiah, David’s throne, and some of the lighter things that make the holidays joyful. It’s always bittersweet, Christmas – because the chains we have that tie us to this planet mean we suffer hurt, loss and difficulty all through the year. But at the same time that sweet-sour paradigm allows us to rejoice and carry on because on the other side is hope. For those who aren’t drawn into the study of last days, we need to ask ourselves why, because we can’t get to the hope part quite yet. Jesus IS our hope, and while the things of God seem far away at times, He is ever near. He will return. Also, we have to examine the underpinnings of the Australian Hanukkah rampage and discuss what Hanukkah actually is. The signs were all there, but just like October 7, there wasn’t enough time or energy to take any of it seriously. How dark will it get before the True Light returns for His people?
