Here Peter transitions from teaching about how we produce fruit as disciples to how we evaluate false teachers. Peter makes the particular point that false teachers make merchandise of the children of God as they prey on their spiritual needs for comfort and hope.

The Amarillo Primitive Baptist Church continues the study of 2 Peter. In this sermon the study of the first chapter is concluded while considering verses 19-21. In these verses, Peter says we have a more sure prophecy and that prophecy being the words of Christ speaking of the second coming.

In this text, Peter points back to his experience on the Mount of Transfiguration and how as the New Testament church we have a more sure prophecy than even the saints of the Old Testament had. In these verses we are told how the items in the earlier seven verses should abound in the believer and in verse 11 we are told that if they do we will be given an abundant entry in the the kingdom of Heaven. This sermon focuses on what that abundant entry is referring to.

In this sermon, Elder Cunningham focuses on verse 7 as Peter continues to explain the characteristics of one following after God. In this verse, Peter concludes his list stating that Charity is the last and final product of the work of growing the seed of Faith within the believer.

In this sermon, Elder Cunningham continues the study of 2 Peter chapter 1 by examining and expounding upon verse six. In this verse, Peter instructs us to work out our knowledge to produce temperance, work out our temperance to produce patience, and work out our patience to produce Godliness. Through this sermon, we look at a definition for each of these characteristics and then go to 1 Corinthians to consider how Paul shows these characteristics in action.

In this second sermon in the 2nd Peter series the fifth verse of the first chapter is expounded upon. With verse five, it is necessary to understand the meaning of the verse in order to prevent taking a view that promotes our own works over the work of Christ. The ultimate message with this verse being that the phrase "add to" does not mean "in addition to" but rather "to be worked out" or "developed". Peter instructs us in 1 Peter 4:1-2 that we are to adopt the same mind as Christ that in suffering we might be free from sin. But what does it mean to have the same mind as Christ? In this sermon we return to the gospel according to Mark and examine how Christ put his body as a man in subjection to the Spirit and fulfilled his duty on the Cross. In like manner we are to put our own bodies in subjection to the spirit and follow after God.
