Psalm 119:68 tells us that God is good and all he does is good. So we know that when he tells us to obey it is good. Yet what do we do when it isn't God who is telling us to obey? How are we to respond to the other authorities in our lives? In this talk we will look at what our response to authority should look like in our life. *the ending is cut short because our batteries died. We were only a couple of minutes short. Do you ever feel like you just can't measure up to the standard? Do you feel like everyone is telling you what to do, but you don't know who to really listen to, who should you obey? God commands that we obey him and for good reason. He is not only good but always does good and his way is the best way to go. So we should listen when he tells us to obey.

If we are trying to go through life without looking stupid then we had better keep watch over our actions. For most of us though it isn't what we do that makes us look stupid, it's what we're not doing. Laziness is what makes us look the stupidest. It's when we know what we should be doing and don't do it that we look the most foolish. How do you break the spell of laziness which leads to sin in our life? Let's see what Solomon says in the book of Proverbs.

We are told over and over again in the Bible that the mouth is an overflow of the heart. If this is true then what we say really shows what we believe. How does what you say line up with what you believe? Are you living as wise or as unwise by the things you say? THis week we explore few ways to go through life without looking stupid when it comes out our communication.

The people in our lives have a huge influence on the quality and direction of our lives. All too often we aren't wise in picking our friends, or people we date, which means we often find ourselves living in a foolish way. This is why it is so important that when we are looking for friends or the people that we date we pick wisely. Solomon has a lot to say about this in Proverbs 2. To go through life without looking stupid we must pick our friends and people we date wisely because the path that they are on is the path that we are on.

Most of us spend our lives trying to avoid looking stupid. So then why do we do so many stupid things? Because the majority of us like the idea of being wise, but not what it actually takes to be wise. We are starting a new series to help us desire wisdom and live wisely when it comes to different areas of our lives. If we desire wisdom then we must listen and follow that wisdom.

Why do we all find it so hard to sit down and read our Bibles? Today we are going to look at some of the common lies that we believe when it comes to reading the Bible that stop of from truly engaging in God's Word.

During the holiday season we all fall into the trap of making good things our ultimate thing. Where our worship of the stuff and holiday supersedes the true meaning behind the holiday. This holiday season let our worship be focused on the only one deserving of our worship, God.

This is the easiest time of year for each of us to share what we believe and why we believe it. People are talking all the time about Christmas, but we are so hesitant to share the true meaning of Christmas. There are a lot of great principles that we can take from the movie Elf to help us share our faith this time of year.

We are constantly bombarded during the Christmas season with things that detract from the true meaning of Christmas. One of the main things that gets in the way of us being able to really experience and live out the true meaning of Christmas is ourselves. We are far too often wrapped up with what we want than we are with us experiencing and living out the good news of great joy that is for all people. We aren't alone though as seen in Matthew 2.

What is the holiday season all about? How should it impact how we live as Christians? As we read through the account given in Luke 2 we learn a lot from the Shepherd's response to the Good News of Great Joy that we should take away and use during the holiday season. What was their response and how should we respond?

Is there anything that we can do to amaze God? We see in Luke 7 there is something, faith. Who doesn't want to amaze God with their faith, but how do we gain that kind of faith? Over time there have been 5 areas that continually grow our faith. What are they and how do we do those things?

Jesus lived his life in great faith surrendering his own will for the will of the father. The same faith that Jesus had should be the way we live out our lives, but is that true? Great faith takes great surrender. Is that how we live?

What does our faith look like when God gives us a NO answer or even worse, it doesn't feel like he answers us at all. What happens to your faith? God has called us to place our faith, our confidence in who God says he is and that he will do all that he has promised to do, in him. Yet when God says NO, what is our typical response? We push back to try and do life on our own when we don't get what we want, which means that we aren't living in faith. So what does it look like to live out of faith?

If Biblical faith is confidence that God is who he says he is and that he is going to do everything that he has promised to do then to have faith we would need to know the promises of God. Far too many of us have misconceptions of what God promises. Yet in Hebrews 4:14-16 we are given a promise of God that has a huge impact on our faith. (poor audio until 7:30, bear with it)

How would you define faith? How does your definition of faith work in your daily life? A lot of times our definition of faith is synonymous with hope, but that isn't what Biblical faith is. So then what is it? Listen to hear what God says faith is.

Everyone has faith in something. The question is where are we placing it? Most of us would say that we are placing our faith in Christ while functionally our faith is based on the circumstances of our lives. How do we regain the proper perspective to place our faith in Christ and not our circumstances?
