This week at our Community Gathering for Worship we welcomed Rev. Mike Fritscher, Pastor of Cottonwood Baptist Church in Dublin, TX as Truett Seminary's Pastor of the Day. The title for Rev. Fritscher's sermon is: "Essentials of Our Call" and is drawn from Luke 5:1-11.

Session 2 of the 2011 Fall Preaching Convocation and Workshop presented by Dr. Joel C. Gregory and sponsored by the Kyle Lake Center for Effective Preaching. Session 2 is Dr. Gregory's sermon titled: "It's Good to Get Out Alive", which was drawn from Jeremiah 45 and was delivered at our weekly Community Gathering for Worship on Tuesday morning.

This week at our Community Gathering for Worship we welcomed Ken Medema, presenter of the Fall 2011 Hearn Music Innovator Series at Baylor University. Though he was born blind, Mr. Medema began playing the piano at the age of 5 and later became a classically trained pianist. His lyrics generally provide social commentary on themes such as justice, hunger, poverty, homelessness, and Christian charity as it pertains to them.

This week at our Community Gathering for Worship we welcomed Dr. Joyce Jones, the Joyce Oliver Bowden Professor of Organ and Organist in Residence here at Baylor University as our chapel guest. Dr. Jones shared with us a collection of songs including: "The Lord is My Shepherd" by Raymond Haan, "Fugue in D Major" by Johann Sebastian Bach, an arrangement entitled "The Promised Land", arranged by Dr. Jones, "Variations on a Noel" by Marcel Dupre, and the hymn "When in Our Music, God is Glorified" by Charles Stanford.

This week at our Community Gathering for Worship we welcomed Dr. Jerry Carlisle, who is the Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church of Plano, TX and also a Truett Seminary honorary alumnus. The title of Dr. Carlisle's sermon is: "When Towers Fall", and is drawn from the text, Luke 13:1-9.

This week at our Community Gathering for Worship we welcomed Terry Austin, the co-founder of The Austin Group, a ministry that provides stewardship consultation to churches to help them experience generosity. He also served for ten years as Director of Stewardship with the Baptist General Convention of Texas, providing stewardship help to more than 5,000 churches, and as a pastor for 13 years. The title of his sermon is: "Turning a Calling Into a Career", and it is drawn from the text, Matthew 10:5-15.

This week at our Community Gathering for Worship we celebrated our Fall Convocation service. Truett Seminary Dean, Dr. David E. Garland, delivered the convocation address, which is titled: "Living Life Under the Sun or Under God", and is drawn from Ecclesiastes 1:1-18.

This week at our Community Gathering for Worship we welcomed Christopher Gordon, Truett's Outstanding Student Preacher for the Spring 2011 semester. The title for Christopher's sermon is: "Access Granted" and is drawn from Luke 11:5-9.

This week at our Community Gathering for Worship we welcomed Truett Seminary alumna, Amy Castello, who serves as Minister of Families with Children at Meadowbrook Baptist in Waco. The title of her sermon is: "Oh, to be fools..." and is drawn from 1 Corinthians 18-31.

This week at our Community Gathering for Worship we continued our semester long sermon series entitled: "Worship and the People of God", featuring sermons delivered by Truett Seminary faculty. This week's sermon was delivered by Dr. Bill O'Brien, Visiting Scholar in Residence at Truett Seminary. The title of Dr. O'Brien's sermon is "Triple Convergence, The Great Emergence, and People of the Pilgrim-Age."

This week at our Community Gathering for Worship we welcomed Truett Seminary student, Jacob Overby, who is in his fifth semester here at Truett. The title for his sermon is: "Theology: What's the Point?" and is drawn from Romans 11:33-36.

This week at our Community Gathering for Worship we welcomed Dr. Phil Christopher, Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church of Abilene, TX as Truett Seminary's Pastor of the Day. The title for Dr. Christopher's sermon is: "Suffering in Silence" and is drawn from the texts Jeremiah 20:7-8, 14-18 and and 2 Corinthians 1:8-11.
