When we value what is inside the box we will treat the box itself with greater care. We have been created in the image of God. This message reveals practical applications of powerful words written to us by the apostle Peter. As Christians, we are pilgrims who are journeying through these foreign lands. This world is not our home. We are not planning on staying here but are preparing for an eternal home. We must look, talk, think and act differently. We are born again for something better. We need to live in a way that brings praise, glory and honor to our Lord Jesus Christ. The world needs to see this joy, this peace, this love of Jesus in us by honoring all people. We do not want to look like everybody else. Did Jesus do this? Yes. This is our call. This is your call. This is our priority.Jesus did all of this in order to bring us to a place so we can be reconciled back to God. We now have a living hope, a chief cornerstone that transcends this hopeless world. This message is about priorities and how to establish them according to Biblical cornerstone principles. Priorities are decisions we make in our lives that regard some things more important than others. We have to be purposeful in establishing priorities. We need to do this so that we do not find ourselves at the end of our life with disappointments, regrets or the realization of a long road of wasted opportunities.Three cornerstone priorities are: God’s people need to keep God central. God’s people get built together. God’s people are to be a proclaiming people. Do  our ambitions and our priorities fit the life that Jesus is calling us to? He, Jesus,  being our Chief Cornerstone? Historically this book is written in the first century during a time of great persecution of the Church.5 imperative commands to be taken seriously are: Gird up the loins of your mind. Get ready for action. Be sober.. This is how we stay in the game to perform effectively by monitoring what goes into our mind. Fully rest our hope on the grace of God. His grace is sufficient for us. Be holy. Be separate from all that is unholy. Be apart from all that is in opposition to God. Conduct yourself, live your life, in a healthy Godly fear because God judges without partiality. The decisions and choices we make every day matter. In what direction are you trending? When our mind is right we will remember who we are and who He is. The main theme of this book is encouragement. This book is written to a Church that is going through an incredibly difficult season. When we begin to read any new book we need to ask ourselves 3 questions. Who is writing the book, to whom is it written for and why was it written?Our God is always faithful in every season. Let us be encouraged in that. God chose you first and knew you before the foundation of the earth. He knows everything about us, our faults, ours sins, our weaknesses and still called us. In this section of Scripture, Jesus shows up with His apostles, unannounced, at Martha’s house. Martha, at first, warmly receives them all because Jesus was welcome in her house. Is Jesus welcome in our house? But this is a huge ask and can be viewed from two different angles. Angle # 1: Jesus just came to my house!Angle # 2: A whole lot of work just showed up at my door.Martha soon became frustrated in much serving. The wrong perspective was that Martha thought that she was doing something that was more important than what Jesus was teaching. Intimacy with Jesus is always greater that service for Him. Priorities are more important than things. The best question is what is the most important.The word ‘neither’ is a powerful word that shatters our own belief system of expectations of God. When we get the right one thing we get everything. This portion of Scripture zooms in on the last 6 months of the earthly ministry of Jesus Christ. This portion of Scripture is also used by skeptics of the Bible, so be prepared for this with the answers presented in this study. What is lacking?
