And just like that, the regular season is over. The Bears finish with a 7-5 record (4-5 in the Pac-12) and clinch second in the standings of the Pac-12 North by the way of alphabetical order (lol Pac-12). The Bears outplayed UCLA for 98% of the game in Pasadena, something that hasn’t been done in a decade, which is now starting to be a thing for coach Wilcox. Garbers looks to be the secret ingredient for Cal who now await their bowl selection which will most likely be to the Red Box bowl, Sun Bowl or the Holiday Bowl. Well the USC game came and went and along with it went any hopes of a two year winning streak or a sweep of the California schools. Nonetheless all of that somehow matters less this week as the immediate need is for the Bears to throw everything they have at the Leland Stanfurd Junior University football team and walk away from Saturday with the Axe in hand. The Bearcast is back after a tough road loss in Autzen and luckily Andy wasn’t left for dead by the Duck fans while enjoying his time in enemy territory. The Bears took the loss after only managing seven points against Oregon’s top-rated defense and are now at 4-2 (1-2 P12) heading into the bye week. Cal badly needs to heal, and the offense needs to find a rhythm before gearing up to play Oregon State at home in what has to be the best matchup left on the schedule.
