David Keddie continues our FNF series on "Jesus Discovered" by speaking on Jesus as a Friend. Bill Boyce taught on Jesus as the long expected Christ and Messiah. "And Jesus went on with his disciples to the villages of Caesarea Philippi. And on the way he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that I am?” And they told him, “John the Baptist; and others say, Elijah; and others, one of the prophets.” And he asked them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered him, “You are the Christ.” And he strictly charged them to tell no one about him." - Mark 8:27-30

Chris Sallade shares his reflections on how we think about the past, present, and future as Christians.Unfortunately, the beginning of the message was missed, and the recording begins five minutes into Chris's talk. 

Bill Boyce shared a short reflection at our Virtual FNF meeting centered around John 14:6 where Jesus said, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me," and also on Ephesians 2: 19-22 "So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit."

Our interns, Robbie and Johanna, share exhortations for the students as they transition into the summer break. Robbie shared reflections around Matthew 7:24-27 "Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.  And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”Johanna shared her thoughts on Hebrews 10:24-27 "And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near."

David Keddie continued our series on practical theology by reflecting on happiness and Psalm 16. 

Chris Sallade speaks from 1 Corinthians 8 on how we are to navigate differences in the grey areas of the Christian Life. 

Bill Boyce continues our series on practical theology by addressing the topic of doubt. His text was Matthew 11:2-6"2 Now when John heard in prison about the deeds of the Christ, he sent word by his disciples 3 and said to him, “Are you the one who is to come, or shall we look for another?” 4 And Jesus answered them, “Go and tell John what you hear and see: 5 the blind receive their sight and the lame walk, lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised up, and the poor have good news preached to them. 6 And blessed is the one who is not offended by me.”

David Keddie continues our series on Practical Theology by addressing the topic of friendship. His main text was Ecclesiastes 4:7-11"7 Again, I saw vanity under the sun: 8 one person who has no other, either son or brother, yet there is no end to all his toil, and his eyes are never satisfied with riches, so that he never asks, “For whom am I toiling and depriving myself of pleasure?” This also is vanity and an unhappy business. 9 Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. 10 For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! 11 Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? 12 And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

Chris Sallade takes on the topic of suffering in our series on Practical Theology. His message looks at what we can learn about suffering from the book of Job. 

Bill Boyce teaches on Contentment in our series on Practical Theology. His text is Philippians 4:10-13"I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at length you have revived your concern for me. You were indeed concerned for me, but you had no opportunity. Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me."Some say Philippians 4:13 is now the most well-known verse in the Bible, but Bill explains that this is "not a promise that whatever I set out to accomplish God will help me to achieve." Rather in this verse Paul is saying that "...knowing Christ gives me the strength to face anything." Throughout the rest of the message Bill unpacks this as the true secret to Christian contentment.  

Bill Boyce continues our Winter Retreat series by discussing fear in relation to Psalm 27.The Lord is my light and my salvation;    whom shall I fear?The Lord is the stronghold of my life;    of whom shall I be afraid?

Chris Sallade continues our Winter Retreat series with a message on anger and Psalm 4. "Be angry, and do not sin;    ponder in your own hearts on your beds, and be silent. SelahOffer right sacrifices,    and put your trust in the Lord."

David Keddie leads off our Winter Retreat teaching on Emotions in the Psalms by talking about longing and depression and how they relate to Psalm 42-43. As a deer pants for flowing streams,    so pants my soul for you, O God.My soul thirsts for God,    for the living God.When shall I come and appear before God?My tears have been my food    day and night,while they say to me all the day long,    “Where is your God?”

Chris Sallade closes out our Advent series speaking from Daniel 2:"And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that shall never be destroyed, nor shall the kingdom be left to another people. It shall break in pieces all these kingdoms and bring them to an end, and it shall stand forever, just as you saw that a stone was cut from a mountain by no human hand, and that it broke in pieces the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold. A great God has made known to the king what shall be after this. The dream is certain, and its interpretation sure.”

Bill Boyce continues our Advent series, reflecting how Jesus is the fulfillment of the Good Shepherd described in Ezekiel 34:11-16:“For thus says the Lord God: Behold, I, I myself will search for my sheep and will seek them out. As a shepherd seeks out his flock when he is among his sheep that have been scattered, so will I seek out my sheep, and I will rescue them from all places where they have been scattered on a day of clouds and thick darkness. And I will bring them out from the peoples and gather them from the countries, and will bring them into their own land. And I will feed them on the mountains of Israel, by the ravines, and in all the inhabited places of the country. David Keddie began our Advent series by teaching on the earliest prophecy of a coming Savior, from Genesis 3:15:"I will put enmity between you and the woman,    and between your offspring and her offspring;he shall bruise your head,    and you shall bruise his heel.”
