  • Marujah Gets "blue" on the Futon

    15/03/2017 Duración: 51min

This crazy quintet came to us by recommendation of friend of the show, Cantua.  Marujah, it's made up...sort of...so you'll have to listen for the meaning, is a crazy band with more influences than anyone I've ever met.  There are five guys who come from differing musical backgrounds and combine their unique combination into a "Multicultural high energy dub stoner rock destruction," according to the San Diego Reader. We talk about their latest album, Guerrero, and how they tend to swing political in their stylings.  I like that, for the most part at least, they keep their music neutral but still maintain their message.  Of course, with the political environment as tense as it is, who could blame them for chiming in with their two-cents?  They also blend English and Spanish as the cross between them in many of their songs.  I guess you can call that Spanglish? Nevermind...either way, they provide a "tone" that helps you to follow along and break down that language barrier. Marujah has another album out, availa

  • Jillian Takes The Futon By Storm!

    08/03/2017 Duración: 48min

I met this young lady at an UN-birthday party put on by my friend J7, of J7 productions, and was mesmerized by her stage presence and powerful vocals.  She, for reasons unbeknownst to us, agreed to sit on the futon for us.  Not only did we get to chat with this talented young lady, she performed LIVE for us!  We now have EXCLUSIVE content for you guys... Jillian is on the verge of finishing her next 5-song EP, tentatively titled "Heartbreak to Hope," and plays three of those songs just for you guys! We chat about her upbringings in San Diego and Temecula and starting her vocal training at age 6 with local legend Norm Boaz, and never really looked back.  She started performing at age 14, getting over those stage jitters before most of us even knew we had them!   She performs "All You Needed Was Me," "DayDream," and "Room in my Heart," and we play a snippet from a track she recorded with Bickenhall titled "Me Without You."  Jillian is an accomplished performer and writer, having won Song of the month and being

  • Aghori Returns to the Futon

    01/03/2017 Duración: 45min

It's been nearly a year since we had Aghori on, and guitarist Jason's brother Timmy D from Pullman Standard is our 'Guest Co-Host' for this episode.  Fun Fact (as Timmy likes to put it), Jason once filled in for big bro's band once as well!  It seems that there's a lot of guitar switching going on...well, that's One Theory for ya!  However, we're not here to talk about old days, were here to talk albums!  We played a few tracks from "Transcending the Illusion" before, so we made sure to not play the same ones again... I picked these three songs to showcase all of the bands characteristics and ability to just knock this thrash metal thing out of the park!  If you like chest-thumping double bass kicks, intense screaming, and screaming guitars, then these guys are for you.  I really listened to this album a few times and realized something that has been bugging me...I couldn't quite nail it until now, but i just recently realized that Dustin (lead singer) sounds like a more badass version of Alien Ant Farm's lea

  • Never Pass Go Monopolizes the Dusty Futon

    01/02/2017 Duración: 44min

Never Pass Go joins Big Jon and Tyler once again! This time, Kevin and Aaron brought a guest of their own...our guest's guest is Matt (Core Tracks).  Matt also brought a very potent beer (which we are not allowed to mention due to Matt's Media Exclusion agreement) that we tried throughout the episode.  This episode isn't without the dick jokes that are practically a pre-requisite when you talk microphones...and Roxy makes her triumphant return, keeping Aaron's attention almost the entire time. Never Pass Go's newest EP is available for purchase for only $5 at Bandcamp.com - "Boy Become A Man" is the bands first attempt at an Acoustic Punk album, something lead singer Kevin Black is passionate about.  He's working to create a sort of acoustic haven for musicians on tour, to make some extra cash and unplug for a bit.  Working with Rosie O' Grady's in San Diego, he has a big event happening on May 5th.
