Sinopsis

The global watch industry produces an estimated 1.2 billion units a year. With around, 7.5 billion people on the planet, that means that over a 6 and a half year period, enough are made for every one of us to go out and buy a brand new watch of our own.In reality, thats not what happens. For starters, just because all these watches are being churned out, doesn't mean that anyone is actually buying them.Lots of people cant understand why you would spend money on a wrist watch. After all, with just a couple of taps, your mobile phone can tell you what the time is anywhere in the world - and you can catch Pokemon on it. You cant do that with a watch. On the other hand, for some people, one watch isnt enough. There are those among us that hunt out, capture, collect, catalogue, and show off their watches to others who share the same passion. On internet forums, Instagram, and even at in person meetups. For those who collect, watches are kind of like Pokemon, theyve got to catch them all. And thats what this show is all about.Watch collectors. Not Pokemon.

  • Jonathan's Modern British Watches

    16/02/2018 Duración: 36min

Welcome to Episode 39 of the Time 4A Pint Podcast - This week I met up with Jonathan, to talk about four modern British watches, that caught his eye, stole his heart, and made their way into his watch box. The first two from smaller scale independents, the third from a company that’s supplied watches to the Ministry of Defence for over 4 decades, and the fourth from an internationally known brand that’s sold alongside it’s Swiss contemporaries in retailers around the world. All different, and yet all sharing a uniquely British Character. • Eight of Arwind's Early El Primero's

    09/02/2018 Duración: 57min

Welcome to Episode 38 of the Time 4A Pint Podcast - This week I caught up with Arwind, an early Time 4A Pint attendee, and man who embodies the core value of Time 4A Pint, as a drinking club with a watch problem. Whilst we recorded today’s show during the day, and drank nothing more than tea, the watch problem persisted, and things got kind of nerdy, and before we knew what was going on there were El Primeros everywhere. A nice problem to have. 02/02/2018 Duración: 40min

Welcome to Episode 37 of the Time 4A Pint Podcast - This week I was out in Karlsruhe, Germany, for the Chrono24 get together, and through a mix of good luck, good timing, and other people being much more organised, got to sit down with Eric Wind for a chat. Hear how Eric went from being an enthusiastic amateur, to regular contributor for Hodinkee, to Vice President, Senior Specialist of Watches at Christie's New York, and is now running his own vintage watch business, Wind Vintage. Oh, and we talked about some of his watches too! 15/01/2018 Duración: 38min

Welcome to Episode 35 of the Time 4A Pint Podcast - For this week's show, I spent an evening with Nathan, talking about his transition from vintage vinyl, to watch collecting, and the friends he's made along the way. With 5 pieces on the table, each with a background story linking it into the wider watch collecting community, it's fair to say that Nathan is collecting with a little help from his friends. 29/12/2017 Duración: 43min

Welcome to Episode 34 of the Time 4A Pint Podcast - This week we got together with Jonas, to talk about some of the military pieces within his eclectic collection. True to character, they're are not only of different types, from different manufactures, and periods of time, but from different militaries and forces too - Making today's show a rather horological combined forces operation. • James Dowling's (not so) Secret Love for the Beta 21

    22/12/2017 Duración: 34min

Welcome to Episode 33 of the Time 4A Pint Podcast - This week we spent an afternoon with Mister James Dowling, Rolex aficionado, and not so secret lover of the Beta 21, talking about the high end electronic movement from the past, and the futuristic watches that it was fitted to. With fifteen Beta 21 equipped watches on the table, we focused on some of James' favourites, including models from Patek Philippe, Rolex, IWC, and Rado - vastly different watches, with identical movements. • Ollie's Horological Sisters, from (very) Different Misters

    15/12/2017 Duración: 22min

Welcome to Episode 32 of the Time 4A Pint Podcast - This week we grabbed a beer with Ollie, a vintage watch collector, who doesn't currently have any of his vintage watches (they're all away being repaired), to talk about two of the most popular limited edition pieces to be released in 2017, the Omega Speedmaster Speedy Tuesday, and the Halios Seaforth. They're from different ends of spectrum in terms of production location, retail price, and size of the businesses behind them. And very honestly, they're very different watches in many ways. That said, they do share some key characteristics - they're a pair of tool watches that were released on the internet, are equally endowed with epic amounts of super-luminova, and both look as at home in the pub, as they do out diving or exploring outer space respectively. We think they make rather an attractive pair of Horological Sisters from (very) Different Misters.  Head to https://www.time4apint.com/podcast/the-time-4a-pint-podcast-episode-32 for pictures and show no

With watches from different manufacturers, in different styles, and at different price points, the only thing limited about Johann's collection is the number of pieces released. • Stuart's Crusade for the Omega Holy Grail

    01/12/2017 Duración: 31min

Welcome to Episode 30 of the Time 4A Pint Podcast - this week we got together with Stuart, the man behind www.omegaholygrail.com to talk about the Omega Speedmaster 376.0822, or as it's better known in watch collector circles, The Holy Grail. Stuart kindly brought along two versions of the 376.0822, one all original, the other with service parts, and shared with us what to look for when trying to evaluate this uncommon Speedmaster from the 1980s. Welcome to Episode 28 of the Time 4A Pint Podcast - This week I caught up with James Vincent, who was the very first guest on the show, to talk about the watches that didn't make it in last time around, and the ones he's bought since. • The Loosely Categorised Watch Collection of Jason S.

    20/10/2017 Duración: 55min

Welcome to Episode 26 of the Time 4A Pint Podcast - this week I sat down with Jason to talk about his watch collecting journey, the lessons he's learned along the way, the ones he hasn't, and to remind him that watches are not investments.  When I'm writing notes before and interview, I try to build a theme around the collector in question's watches. It could be that all the watches are from a brand,  that they came from various trips, or milestones, or just that they're things their owner was drawn to. This week, things seemed to split into 4 distinct groups: Stupid but... lucky? Seamasters for Fathers Down the Internet Rabbit Hole Future Classics I'm sure we've all bought and owned watches from the first and third categories, and hope we're currently holding them from the fourth! Watches on this week's show: Girard Perregaux Seahawk 7100 Omega Seamaster Day-Date Quartz Omega Seamaster Automatic Crosshair Omega Seamaster 30 Omega Seamaster Automatic Chronometer (Ref. • Enabled Through Instagram

    06/10/2017 Duración: 37min

Welcome to Episode 24 of the Time 4A Pint Podcast - this week we dragged ourselves off the sofa, got dosed up on cold and flu remedies, and headed out to meet Nathan, who like us was valiantly fighting a serious case of man-flu. And, very much like us, spends hours looking at shiny time keeping devices on Instagram. After discovering the shear volume of watch pictures being shared by collectors, dealers, and enablers alike, Nathan's collecting turned from fashion brands, to an eclectic, but well appointed selection of timepieces old, and new, that appeal to him. Great Stuff. Watches on the week's show: Rolex Submariner 14060M Rado Captain Cook LE Ref. 01.763.0500.3.130 Jacques Monnat Chronograph (Valjoux 7736) Breitling Sprint Chronograph Ref. 2010 aka.
