Venus Williams continued to play well in 2017 in Miami.  Athough she lost earlier than expected in Charleston, the veteran American prove to be a challenge for the WTA field.  Roger Federer survived Tomas Berdych and Nick Kyrgios en route to another matchup with Rafa Nadal in the Miami final.  Federer won yet again to surge to #4 in the ATP rankings.  This week, the WTA begins clay court play in Charleston while the men prepare for the Davis Cup quarterfinals.  Join Karen Helf and Pete Ziebron on Replay the Point.

Roger Federer won Indian Wells for the fifth time on Sunday.  Along the way, he defeated Rafael Nadal winning in 68 minutes and converting four of five break points.  Meanwhile, Novak Djokovic lost again to Nick Kyrgios and Andy Murray was ousted by qualifier Vasek Pospisil.  This week in Miami, Indian Wells finalist Stan Wawrinka is the #1 seed as Djokovic and Murray are out due to elbow injuries.  Join Jared Pine and Pete Ziebron on Replay the Point.

Last Saturday, the opening round of qualifying at the new ATP $75K Tempe Challenger was played at the Whiteman Tennis Center on the campus of Arizona State University.  As recently as last November, this event was not on the schedule nor on the radar of the 2017 ATP season.  Pete Ziebron and Jared Pine are glad to host the Chief Executive Officer of the Arizona Sports & Entertainment Commission, Mr. Alan Young, who will tell the story of how this event was born.
