The Business of Practice 119: Emergence of Mid-Level Practitioners with Dr. Jim Zeliff
05/08/2025 Duración: 27minIn this episode, Dr. Jim Zeliff, DVM, MBA, joined us to discuss the emergence of mid-level veterinary practitioners. In November 2024, Colorado voters passed Proposition 129, creating a “veterinary professional associate” position. After two years of training and certification, these associates would be able to practice veterinary medicine under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian. The AVMA, AAEP, and many other veterinary associations are strongly opposed to this mid-level role. In the episode, Dr. Zeliff encouraged veterinarians to become involved in their state VMA to increase advocacy for equine and other sectors of veterinary medicine. In closing, he said increased utilization of licensed veterinary technicians is an important part of keeping VPAs out of equine veterinary medicine. The Business of Practice Podcast is brought to you by CareCredit. This information is shared solely for your convenience.
