Grappling Rewind: Breakdowns Of Professional Bjj And Grappling Events

This week is a massive show we recaps of GrappleFest2 with Craig Jones vs Matheus Diniz and tons of other superfights. Then we get into the Onnit Invitational 9 where we look at Frank Vs. Ricky Lule, PJ Barch and Keith Krikorian and the rest of the 170, and 155-pound brackets. We talk about Gordon F Ryan III 2018 IBJJF No-Gi Pans domination in New York this weekend. Plus Maine learns how to pronounce New York names from Emil. Then we get into the recap of F2W 86 in Seattle Washington, and some great finishes on the card. Then after all the BJJ has been recapped we touch on the halfway of the Aki Basho for Sumo. We have all three Yokozuna in this Basho and they all look pretty good thus far. After all that we preview SUBVERSIV, which looks to be a barnburner. Plus a bunch of Fight to Win style matchups as well. Then we preview the King of Mats 3. We also briefly touch on Men of War 3. Just finished recording our first bonus episode where we break down what it really takes to beat the top guys. We take a look at Craig Jones vs Gordon Ryan and break down how Gordon was able to sub the Australian dark horse in ADCC. Then we get into how hard it is to get to Gordon’s back in a technician analysis of Gordon Ryan’s match with Felipe Pena, then round the show out with a conversation about Matheus Diniz and his back and forth war with Hulk. This week on the show Maine and Josh are back from vacation, and we preview all of the things. We kick the show off with the news that Gordon Ryan has entered the No-Gi pans, and everyone want in on that division. We preview the weed infused event that is the High Rollerz 2. Then we get back to the nationwide tour that is F2W 86, that has a masters title match on it. We talk a little about UWW, and Josh explains exactly what is is. We get into the EBI 17 Qualifier and how it came out just in time for us both to not be able to find it to break it down fully before recording. On this weeks show Josh returns from Colorado and his first family vacation ever to recap the IBJJF 2018 World Masters. We cover the Masters 1 division for the Men and the Women and talk about the various ages of top competitors. We also briefly touch on Vagner Rocha being a "Nasty Man" and his recent CJJ on XFN 21 where he "Spoiler" wins via face smother. Josh also brings up his thoughts on last weeks show and highlights some items he though we missed. We talk about how Rousimar Palhares is terrifying and also huge and super jacked in a recent photo. We also talk about how we thing Craig Jones gets the match done. Then to round out the BJJ we preview F2W Pro 84 in Chicago Illinois. As a bonus on this show Josh talks about how he planned and booked an entire family vacation in 8 days, and how delicious Wendy's frosties. On this weeks show we were going to cover Finishers 6 but some life events got in the way so that event will be covered next week. This week we recap the Black Belt divisions (and talk about others) for the 2018 IBJJF Gi World Championships. We talk about the mens divisions, the woman's divisions, who we picked; the best and most stand out matches of the event. This show was our highlights of what to watch and who got robbed at this years event (Spoiler it was Keenan). We talk about sandbagging, and time in requirements, plus our general excitement surrounding this years matches. Only a single team close out in the mens and woman's divisions this year. On this weeks show Maine and Josh preview the brackets for the 2018 IBJJF Gi Worlds. The most prestigious Gi event in the world, and speculate who will take each Black Belt Adult Division for the men and the women. We also give a general overview of the event. This episode was recorded in to segments with the first preview segment being recorded before the brackets had been released, and the second segment of the show being recorded after the release of the brackets. If you are interested in only the brackets section it begins at roughly 1 hour and 15 minutes. On this episode we also recap the Sumo Basho, and make ranking change predictions.

Episode 28 of the Grappling Rewind Podcast we recap Fight to Win Pro 75, Rise Invitational 4, talk about the halfway point of the Sumo basho. We also speculate/ tease how we plan to cover the 2018 IBJJF worlds. We talk about the number of black belt women signed up at the worlds and more.
