Sinopsis

Welcome to Quiet Confidence with Australian psychologist Dr Tess Crawley. I'm the owner of a large private psychology practice in Tasmania (the little heart-shaped island at the bottom of Australia). I'm a mentor to mental health professionals, especially those approaching leadership roles. I write a blog called The Stigma Rebellion and maintain an active social media presence. I'm also the only female in a household including a husband, two sons, and a male dog, cat, and goldfish. Let me share with you my tips on how you can gain your Quiet Confidence.

Episodios

  • Ep. 78 - Why is Business Ownership So Isolating?

    21/08/2019 Duración: 12min

Being your own boss. Owning your own business. Having all the flexibility in the world. Calling all the shots. Sounds great, doesn't it?  But who do you talk to when things get tough?  Business ownership can be incredibly isolation, adding to the stress and the pressure. But if you can find ways to break through that isolation, it can add immeasurably to your resilience as a business owner - which is not only good for you, it's good for business!

  • Ep. 77 - Firestarters. What is it? And what's the story behind the name?

    21/08/2019 Duración: 11min

What does my convict ancestry have to do with my mentoring work? And what does Firestarters have to do with it?

  • Ep. 76 - Be Strategic Not Reactive In Your Business Decisions

    20/08/2019 Duración: 10min

By keeping your big picture in mind, you'll have a better chance of making business decisions that are strategic rather than reactive. This means you'll stay on track and not be distracted by day-to-day dramas.  Yes, we need to be quick-thinking and fleet-footed in business, but we need to be guided by what is in the best interests of our big picture goals.  #business #businessowner #findingproof #quietconfidence #tesscrawley  #businesscoach #businessmentor #psychologist #businessstrategy #coach #mentor

  • Ep. 75 - Develop a CEO mindset in your business, no matter how small it is.

    19/08/2019 Duración: 11min

Have you ever wondered how you could apply the "big business" labels of CEO and COO to your business. Do you know the difference between a CEO and a COO? Maybe you should. Be the CEO in your business, no matter how small. Even if you're fulfilling the COO role for now, keep your eyes on the big picture so you'll know when the time is right to hand that role onto someone else!

  • Ep. 74 - INTERVIEW with MARK DRAGER, President of Phanta Media

    18/08/2019 Duración: 49min

In this interview for the Finding Proof podcast, I had a rip-roaring chat with Canadian digital media and marketing whizz and president of Phanta Media, Mark Drager.  We talk about all things social media, marketing, confidence, and doing what we do to serve the greater purpose of helping others.  This was a great chat with someone who is becoming a rather good friend of mine. I hope you'll enjoy listening as much as we enjoyed chatting!

  • Ep. 73 - The FLEXIBILITY MYTH that Draws in Business Owners Just Like You & Me

    18/08/2019 Duración: 09min

So many business owners tell me that they were drawn to owning their own business because of the flexibility that being your own boss promised. Flexibility with your time, your finances, and how you spend your days. IT'S A MYTH! But you do still have choices ... make sure you make the most of them.

  • Ep. 72 - Interview with US Recovery Coach, Tracy O'Malley

    13/08/2019 Duración: 39min

An inspiring conversation recently with recovery coach, Tracy O'Malley, for the Finding Proof podcast.  Tracy is a woman with a lived experience of multiple generations of addition. Not only has she overcome the struggle of her own recovery, she now coaches others to overcome addiction, break the multi-generational patterns that keep them stuck, and cheerleads them on to achieve great things in their own lives.  I loved this discussion about the work we both do, and  the challenges of vulnerability, parenting, business, and much more!  p.s. There may be the odd salty word or two.

  • Ep. 71 - Vulnerability is THE Secret Weapon!

    30/07/2019 Duración: 04min

An inspiring chat today with addictions coach, Tracy O'Malley, for the Finding Proof podcast prompted these thoughts on vulnerability.  It is THE secret weapon.  THE secret sauce.  Listen to your wise, experienced, vulnerable self. It’s everything! p.s. There may be the odd salty word or two.

  • Ep. 70 - How do I know if I'm hiring the right person?

    30/07/2019 Duración: 04min

One of the Top 3 Questions I'm Asked as a Business Mentor: How do I know if I'm hiring the right person? Short answer? You don't. Here's why.

  • Ep. 69 - Get Out of the Echo Chamber!

    30/07/2019 Duración: 44s

As a business owner, it is not helpful to get stuck in an echo chamber, filled with people who are only telling you what you want to hear. Find the people who are brave enough to tell you what you NEED to hear. Build your band of truth-talkers to keep you grounded.

  • Ep. 68 - Entrepreneurial Parents ... this one's for you

    30/07/2019 Duración: 02min

Is the system broken, or is it just that you need to parent outside the system?  As an entrepreneur, you think differently and work differently to the "norm".  This might mean you are feeling "wrong" for parenting differently to the "norm".  You're still doing your level best to be a compassionate and wise parent. AND you're an entrepreneur.  Go easy on yourself!

  • Ep. 67 - An Interview with Cayla Craft - Mommy Millionaire

    23/07/2019 Duración: 42min

I had a thoroughly enjoyable conversation today with Cayla Craft, LA-based successful entrepreneur and mentor to women business owners. Cayla talked about how her childhood set her up to have the bulletproof mindset that has seen her grow from ER nurse to self-made millionaire and mentor to female entrepreneurs globally. Raised by a single mum, her drug-addicted father frequently in prison, Cayla adopted the mindset early in life that she was capable of achieving whatever she set her mind to. And so she has.  In this episode we talk about the challenges she faced early in her entrepreneurial journey, her "no rules" approach to parenting as an entrepreneur, and her tricks for keeping her mindset focused on success.  I could have talked to Cayla all day! Enjoy.  You can find out more about Cayla at www.mommymillionaire.co

  • Ep. 66 - A Finding Proof Interview with Jeannette Fuentes

    14/07/2019 Duración: 37min

It was my great pleasure to speak this week with the very lovely Jeannette Fuentes successful Los Angeles entrepreneur and speaker. Our conversation covered her experiences as the child of immigrants and how that influenced her business career, her early setbacks before the power of #MeToo could give her a voice, and how as a successful realtor in Los Angeles she still manages to the busyness of business with her own self-development and the empowerment of other female realtors. This was a delightful conversation, as Jeannette and I found that we had so much in common. Meanwhile you can follow Jeannette on Facebook or on Instagram (@_JeannetteFuentes).

  • Ep. 65 - THE REAL CONSEQUENCES OF SPEAKING MY MIND AND BEING VULNERABLE.

    12/07/2019 Duración: 09min

Yesterday I did a Facebook Livestream that was pretty raw and emotional. But I stood in truth, pulled on some courage, and spoke from the heart. * Here’s what happened next ... #vulnerability #business #entrepreneur #coach #mentor #findingproof#quietconfidence #firestarters #gratitude #pressrecord #TessBomb

  • Ep. 64 - I’VE FAILED YOU & IT’S TIME FOR ME TO COME CLEAN.

    12/07/2019 Duración: 14min

This might not be pretty, but it will be real. (Warning: There may be some LANGUAGE!) #TessBomb * At 6:30 this morning I had a meeting with Steve in New York. He’s my agent, but more than that, he’s someone I care about. This morning he held up a mirror for me to see myself for what I am. And I’m ashamed to say that what I saw didn’t make me happy. There were tears. * Despite my success. Despite my “eternal optimism”. Despite my authentic care for you. I’ve failed. * I’ve failed to let you in. I’ve failed to be clear in what I tell you about what I struggle with. Because we all have the SAME struggle. But I’ve not shared mine with you. * You don’t need to hear all my dirty laundry, but you do need to know that YOU are not alone. You fear criticism. So do I. You hate being judged. So do I. You secretly yearn for external validation. So do I. You carry the baggage of your childhood. So the hell do I. * It’s really not enough for me to simply write this for you though. It’s not good enough to sanitise this

  • Ep. 63 - Comfort Zones & Growing Big - Evan Carmichael & Me

    05/07/2019 Duración: 01h08min

In my latest conversation with Evan Carmichael we talk comfort zones, the #DrTessCrapChallenge, self-compassion, negative self-talk, and more.

  • Ep. 62 - Evan Carmichael and me, together in New York

    04/06/2019 Duración: 01h05min

Evan Carmichael and me TOGETHER in New York. Got to be my favourite conversation with Evan so far, and not just for all laughter. In this video I call out Evan’s tendency to intellectualise tricky emotion and teach him some tricks for getting real, vulnerable and present - which somehow turns into the #DrTessCrapChallenge

  • Ep. 61 - Act As If It Is Already So

    23/05/2019 Duración: 17min

How would you feel if you’d already achieved your goals? How would it influence the choices you make? Your behaviour?  What if you consciously adopted the attitude to act as if your goals were already met? What would that look like in terms of confidence, choices, behaviour, and the like-minded people you’d draw towards you?  It’s not about “fake it til you make it”. It’s not about “manifestation”. It’s about adopting a success mindset and letting that guide you.  How would you feel if you’d already achieved your goals? How would it influence the choices you make? Your behaviour?  Here are a few lessons I picked up from David Bowie, Joan Jett, and Hollywood.

  • Ep. 60 - Evan Carmichael and Me - Perfectionism and Tricky Emotions

    23/05/2019 Duración: 01h13min

In this chat with Evan Carmichael, we talk about how hard it can tolerate unpleasant emotions. We pick apart a recent conversation Evan had with New York media guru, Hank Norman, and how that changed his usual coaching style.

  • Ep. 59 - You Need to Understand Your Team's Attitude Towards Money to Succeed in Business

    16/04/2019 Duración: 04min

Your TEAM’S money mindset is just as important as your own. Perhaps even more so. Do you have any idea what your team members think about charging their worth? Or your fee structure? Or your business' reliance on billable hours?  It's time you did!
