Paul points Timothy to Scripture as the basis for his ministry and the edification of the church.

Paul warns Timothy that people will become more disagreeable as time goes on; therefore Timothy is to remain rooted in Scripture and his guide and source for instructing others.

Paul instructs Timothy to dedicate his life to the Lord, knowing that he will face difficulties in the ministry; by committing himself to the Lord, Timothy will be able to instruct others in the ways of the Lord.

God calls all people everywhere to worship Him and recognize His greatness; national blessings depend upon His favor; and that God’s people are called to wait on Him while we look for an everlasting kingdom.
