  • 262: Ep262: Mutant Blast w/ WWE Superstar Baron Corbin

    02/06/2020 Duración: 01h12min

With all that is going on in not only the world, but our own backyard, it seems inappropriate to be celebrating anything. Well, we reached a pretty important milestone here at the Who Goes There Podcast. Today is 7 years to the day since we posted our very first episode. So in honor of such a big event we brought back our biggest (literally) guest to date. That's right! The haomie Baron Corbin is back to give us his "kingly" take on all things horror! Last time Tom (Baron) was on the show, we discussed the Stranger Things-esque Summer of '84. While King Corbin seemed pleased with this offering, we wanted to REALLY ramp up the insanity this time around and show him what WGT is all about. This week we're discussing the 2019/2020, Portuguese Troma film Mutant Blast (Review starts at 37:07). We also go back and discuss The Platform, Tom's "disclaimer" for recommending Matt picks, casual name drops and the fight Matt and Tom will have at Mania 40. What can you expect from the movie itself? How about the most blo

  • 261: Ep261: The Beyond - WGT

    28/05/2020 Duración: 01h06min

Blessed be, dumdums! We're back again with another load of horror goodness for your ear...cavities. It should come as no surprise to anyone that I am a huge fan of the films of Lucio Fulci. Likewise, it should come as no surprise that neither Jorge, nor Rhett had seen a Fulci film. This fact makes me a sad panda. The time to rejoice is upon us, ye lil nerds! We're remedying this grave injustice by showing the guys The Beyond. I know The Beyond may not be the best movie to introduce folks to Fulci, but damnit, if you're gonna do it, do it right! (Review at 32:39) Did Jorge and Rhett enjoy the movie? Did they hate it like they hate everything else? Some of you are still out of work and have all the time in the world, while the rest are going back to work and now have a commute again. Point is, you have nothing but time and no reason NOT to listen! Tune in next week as we're joined by WWE Superstar Baron Corbin to discuss 2020's Mutant Blast. Shit fire and save the matches, Johnny! It's the Who Goes There

  • 260: Ep260: I See You 2019 - WGT

    18/05/2020 Duración: 01h10min

I grew up during the 90's in a very, how can I put this delicately, a household that is white as fuck. If there were two shows that all white people watched in the 90's, those shows were Wings and Mad About You. (If you're white and you say you didn't watch these shows, you're only lying to yourself.) Mad About You aired from the time I was ten until I was seventeen. Not only did young me think that this is exactly what being an adult would be like, but I fully believed in the love that Paul and Jaime shared and wanted to experience that kind of deep emotional love for myself. Did y'all know Helen Hunt is still alive and acting?! Are you aware that she did a horror film called I See You and it came out this past December?! Does it come as any kind of surprise, knowing what you now know, that I jumped at the chance to review a Helen Hunt movie?! (Review at 33:11) And you will face the sea of darkness, and all therein that may be explored. There, you shall find the Who Goes There Podcast episode 260! If y

  • 259: Ep259: Sea Fever - WGT

    11/05/2020 Duración: 01h07min

Avast, ye scurvy dogs! We're setting sail on the high seas for the adventure of a lifetime. This week we've got fiery redheads, tentacles, Irish accents, killer sperm, and all the sailor superstitions that you can shake your rotting oar at. This week we'll be discussing the new sea fairing indie horror darling Sea Fever. (Review at 33:55) In addition to our usual brand of fuckery, we try to free Sophia from Rhett's cinematic... "conditioning", we talk about life in lockdown, the movies we've seen etc. Look, you know how this works right now. We talk about movies, you listen. I only fill in all of this nonsense because if it's under 300 words the algorithm has a tissy fit. Look, Stephen King personally tweeted that this movie was an excellent quarantine watch. We all know how hyperbolic that goof can be, so here we are. The only trusted name in horror. ;) If I weren't about to shit in my pants right now, I'd be fuckin' fascinated. It's the Who Goes There Podcast episode 259! If you enjoy the show, please co

  • 258: Ep258: The Witch: Subversion

    04/05/2020 Duración: 01h16min

Praise be unto King Sam for we have returned from the darkness and are bringing you into the light! Yes last week we took a much needed week off to recharge our batteries and are back bigger and better than ever! Yes, we recorded this episode before the break. Also, we are still recording remotely, and now we here. I don't know if you guys are aware, but South Korea is KILLING IT with their movies right now. I mean, they have the biggest musical artists right now. (Get on that B.T.S. hype train!) South Korea released a little film came out this month called The Witch: Subversion. Yeah, we're doing that. (Review at 40:10) Are there witches? Is it magic? Maybe it's like a metaphor? You should definitely check it out. Not only that, we talk about Adventures in Babysitting, if farts could kill, old white bitches, and how we're staving off the space madness! You know all those goddamn security scenarios we ran? Well, I'm stuck in the middle of one we didn't think of. It's the Who Goes There Podcast episode 258

  • 257: Ep257: August Underground: Mordum

    21/04/2020 Duración: 01h35min

Hear, ye! Hear, ye! By order of his royal majesty King Sam, we bring to you this review. We have a super special tier for our Patreon that allows one person to rule over all and choose a movie for us to review every month. King Sam is that person. Usually, Sam simply lets us "do whatever makes (us) happy". However, on occasion, Sam will grace us with his presence and stir the shit a little. That's right, fuckers! It's time to once again head on down Depravity Drive and cover one of the most notorious horror films of recent memory: August Underground: Mordum. (Review at 48:29) We covered the first AU film a few years ago and it turned out to be one of our best episodes. Mordum, the second film in the trilogy, is often heralded to be even more disturbing than the original, often finding itself near the top of every "XX Movies You Won't Be Able To Finish" lists. Well you know what?! We a'int no punks! We a'int never scared! Bring on the blood, edge lord dialogue and shots of singing dick holes! Well boys, wha

  • 256: Ep256: We Summon The Darkness - WGT

    14/04/2020 Duración: 58min

Well, here it is. It may have taken us two weeks, cost us our sanity, tested our friendship, and killed three of Jorge's cousins, but damnit, we have a new episode! Things have been a little shaky for everyone the last few weeks and here at the Who Goes There Podcast is no exception. We lost three episodes to the podcasting gods after having to record remotely for the first time in seven years. That, in conjunction with the release calendar looking pretty slim we jumped at the chance to review a NEW horror movie! This week we bring you 2020's We Summon The Darkness, a movie about satanists, or not. (Review at 25:35) I would like to take a second to thank and acknowledge my co-hosts for all of their hard work and patience. Despite living through his own private nightmare, Jorge has produced an episode that sounds as though we are all in the same room. Rhett is being a positive, optimistic driving force, and I now get really high through the whole episode and basically serve no purpose. Hooray teamwork! Colo

  • 20: WGT Classic: Ep20 - 13 Sins w/ Lauren Ashley Carter

    06/04/2020 Duración: 01h31min

First and foremost, we apologize for missing an episode last week. We are committed to bringing you new and exciting content during this global pandemic. Well, at least committed to bringing you NEW content. During the last two weeks we have recorded three new episodes (The Host, The Hunt, The Fly) and we have managed to mess up every one of those episodes. You see, in the 7 years we have been a show we have never recorded remotely and for good reason. Unfortunately the issues we ran into prevented the immediate (or even eventual) release of these episodes. It is for this reason we are traveling all the way back to our first year as a show. On episode 20 we had our favorite adorable foul mouth Lauren Ashley Carter on to discuss 13 Sins. This episode is a fuckin blast. Silver linings I suppose. So enjoy this classic episode and we will hopefully be back next week with a brand new episode. Take care of yourself, and someone else. You're not looking for a job... you're waiting for the world to end... or the

  • 254: Ep254: Villains - WGT

    24/03/2020 Duración: 59min

Well, it sure as hell FEELS like we're living in a slow burn, shitty zombie movie. When the gyms are closed, the home gym owners shall inherit the gains! We want to assure you that thanks to advancements in modern technology, the Who Goes There Podcast will still be releasing weekly episodes! We originally had planned to review The Hunt this week, but with all the theaters closing we decided to push it back a week. Now, you'll actually be able to watch it on VOD. Instead, we decided to cover a movie that went under everyone's radar and is available to stream right now on Hulu, and that movie, is 2019's Villains. Pennywise and the girl from It Follows totally make out, it's hella tight. (Review at 29:35) If you guys are looking for things to do we've been active on Twitch a lot lately, we're doing a lot of things for our Patreon supporters, and not only that there are THOUSANDS of hours of free content from other great podcasts like Say You Love Satan, Witchfinger, Forever Midnight and Pens and Pixels podca

  • 253: Ep253: The Invisible Man 2020

    17/03/2020 Duración: 01h10min

Well, this may well be the end, everyone. Everyone in the world has lost their god damn minds, and we're all stuck inside. Sure, you could sit and pout about it, or you could look at the bright side: this gives you so much more time to listen to our new episode! This week we're diving in to yet another Blumhouse movie, another remake, another version of The Invisible Man. (Review at 27:18) He touches it. He has a relationship with it. He is part of it. It's the Who Goes There Podcast episode 253! If you enjoy the show, please consider joining our Patreon subscribers. • 252: Who Goes There Podcast: Ep252 - Verotika

    08/03/2020 Duración: 01h26min

Follow me, as I reminisce about a time long ago known as 1993. I was ten years old, in fourth grade, and really wanted to wear my clothes backwards like Kris Kross. MTV had a show called the "Top 20 Video Countdown" and everyday for months the top spot came down to a battle between Collective Soul's "Shine" and a video of a hairy, shirtless man, yelling about children walking on his lawn. That second video, was my introduction to Glenn Danzig. Fast forward 27 years and the North Side King's biggest fan has written and directed a movie adaptation of a comic book he wrote a loooooong ass time ago. The angsty little ten year old inside of me was ecstatic. Then the movie was referred to as "the horror equivalent of The Room". That movie, is Verotika, this episode is on that movie. (Review at 35:47) Chris is back again! There is no way Chris would ever forgive me if we covered Glenn Danzig's first film and he wasn't involved. Get ready, this shit is fun! Y'know, sometimes I look at these gorgeous-looking chicks

  • 251: Who Goes There Podcast: Ep251 - VFW

    02/03/2020 Duración: 01h20min

Gather 'round, ye lil fuckos! We're back with week two of our Telluride Horror Show 2019 double header! This week we're breaking down the new, ultra-bloody, hyper-stylized, siege movie from Joe Begos, 2019's V.F.W. (Review after the break at 42:15). Joe Begos may well be the director we've reviewed the most in the show's seven year history and the guys have been divided on each one of his films. Will V.F.W. be the Begos film to unify us, for better or worse? Guess there's only one way to find out. Huh, dork? If you enjoy the show, please consider joining our Patreon subscribers. • 250: Who Goes There Podcast: Ep250 - After Midnight

    27/02/2020 Duración: 01h13min

Alia is back to discuss After Midnight with the idiots.  We started this show in 2013 and the very first episode we did was on an unknown zombie film called The Battery. During the episode, we were fortunate enough to talk to director Jeremy Gardner who told us about the film he wanted to make next. Seven years later that film has been released under the name After Midnight. (Review at 24:49) We love The Battery so much that not only have we used it as a point of comparison on how to do cheap films, good films, and good storytelling, we also did two whole episodes on it! (Episode 1 and 70). We've been waiting a long time for After Midnight. Does it live up to the hype? Are we going to be casually referencing this movie for the next seven years? Tune in to find out! If you enjoy the show, please consider joining our Patreon subscribers. That means for less than the cost of a beer, you get bonus content, exclusive merchandise, and special giveaways! • 249: Who Goes There Podcast: Ep249 - GRETEL AND HANSEL

    15/02/2020 Duración: 01h04min

Well, boils and ghouls, we've made it through January! Despite it's reputation for being the time when studios dumb the films they don't have faith in, we got some pretty decent releases. (Check out our reviews for Color Out of Space and Underwater)  Just when we thought we were moving on to romantic slashers and over priced chocolates of February, a little film was released on January 31. That's right, idiots, we're talking about Gretel and Hansel. (Review starts at 19:21) We know what you're thinking, "but there's already been like twenty Hansel and Gretel movies in the last few years." Shut up. No one asked you. Besides, this one is called Gretel and Hansel, not Hansel and Gretel. There's a big difference, ya donkey. Perhaps I'm just kidding. It is quite possible that we just bro out and talk about muscles and lifting techniques for an hour. Maybe we do both. Only one way to find out. Hang them up! And skin the fat off of them. It's the Who Goes There Podcast episode 249! If you enjoy the show

  • Who Goes There Podcast: Ep248 – THE FACULTY

    11/02/2020 Duración: 01h24min

Hey there, dummies. This week we decided we wanted to do a little something different. In an attempt to avoid falling into a downward spiral of sad January box office releases we are doing something a bit older. We’re gonna go back in time! That’s right, Slappy! Good ole’ Jorge is picking this week’s movie, and you know what that means, baggy pants, terrible hair, and the best god damned soundtrack imaginable! Join us, all the way back in 1998. It was a more simple time when Elijah Wood was just a baby, it was acceptable to put Harry Knowles in your movie, and relationship abuse was all the rage. That’s right, we watched The Faculty (Review at 34:48). Dust off your favorite 311 shirt, bust out that chain wallet and puka shell necklace, this shit is gonna be tight. We don’t need no education, just some Ox 45 talls and the Who Goes There Podcast episode 248! If you enjoy the show, please consider joining our Patreon subscribers. • Who Goes There Podcast: Ep247 – COLOR OUT OF SPACE

    04/02/2020 Duración: 01h47min

Hey, everyone, Chris is back! Huzzah! We have missed our dear friend and former cohost so much, we knew that we had to make this episode a special one. Seeing as how Chris wasn’t able to join in on the last few crazy ass Nick Cage movies, we opted to do Color Out of Space. (Review starts at 51:15) For real, this episode is the jam! We all had an absolute blast recording it. Not only is Chris doing impressions again, but Nick Cage also screams about alpacas while doing a Trump accent. I don’t know what else to tell you except that this is the most fun I’ve had on the show in a while. So spark up a doobie, grab your golden lady and get ready for a wild fuckin ride! Lawnmower Man is in your head now, Jake. There is no escape, ever. It’s the Who Goes There Podcast episode 247! If you enjoy the show, please consider joining our Patreon subscribers. • Who Goes There Podcast: Ep246 – PIG

    25/01/2020 Duración: 01h15min

In 2010, Dread Central and a few other horror sites joined together to stream Pig, the new movie from director Adam Mason. The film was only streamed for a limited time, and if you missed it, too bad. Pig was never officially released, and despite a few over-priced bootlegs popping up at conventions, Pig had essentially vanished. Vanished that is, until 2017. In 2017 director Adam Mason announced that Pig would screen at SXSW for two nights, and then never again; this would be the only public screening of the film. When asked why the film was never released Adam Mason has said everything from he hates the film, to wanting to create that “holy grail” film. You know, the kind of film you only hear about, but can’t find, but your friend’s brother’s classmate’s uncle “totally has a copy”. The important thing is, Mason was always willing to talk about the film, and if asked nicely, would reportedly send you a link. Well, that’s what we did, motherfuckers! That’s right, we watched what is arguably one of th

  • Who Goes There Podcast: Ep245 – UNDERWATER

    21/01/2020 Duración: 01h18min

Grab your bathing suits and towels, we’re going swimming! It may only be January, and half of the country is covered in snow but don’t let that stop you! Just call us Sebastian because this week we’re going under the sea with 2020’s Underwater! (Review at 34:11) Have you ever thought to yourself, “I really wish they would make a Cloverfield movie, but under water, and take every chance possible to put Kristen Stewart in he underwear.”? Well, ready your lil nerd, you little nerds, because this is the movie for you! Underwater has all of the explosion laced, debris filled, screeching, screaming chaos of a Cloverfield film, but is it one? More importantly, is it good? Most importantly: does TJ Miller fuckin die?! We’ll answer all of these questions and more this week on the Who Goes There Podcast! IH7A0202.CR2 It wasn’t the right time for us to meet. But there’ll be other nights, other stars for us to watch. They’ll be back, with Who Goes There Podcast episode 245! If you enjoy the show, please co

  • Who Goes There Podcast: Ep244 – THE GRUDGE 2020

    14/01/2020 Duración: 01h14min

Generally, when the horror community hears the word “remake” we all collectively groan and roll our eyes. More often than not, the remake fails to capture what audiences loved about the source material. Every so often, a remake will come along that not only pays homage to an already great film, it carves out it’s own place in cinema history. As of 2020, no one will say that about The Grudge. (Review starts at 24:08) Maybe I’m just pulling your leg. Perhaps this un-promoted, January release, produced by Sam fuckin’ Raimi is an early contender for film of the year. Maybe this is the first time I’ve seen Lynn Shea in a ghost movie. C’mon. We all know why you’re here. When I sleep my spirit slips away from my body and dances naked with The Devil. That’s why we have the Who Goes There Podcast episode 244! If you enjoy the show, please consider joining our Patreon subscribers. • Who Goes There Podcast: Ep243 – 2019 Year In Review

    07/01/2020 Duración: 01h43min

We here at the Who Goes There Podcast have spent countless hours researching exactly what is the key to podcasting superstardom. Through our tireless research we have come to the realization that the internet likes lists. It doesn’t matter what kind of list, so long as things are put in a descending or ascending order. Well, folks, we’re nothing if not hip, and with it; we are also very opinionated. With that being said, here is our list of the best and worst films of 2019. I would add the disclaimer that “these are what WE think the best films of the year are”. It’s nice to know I don’t have to do that because we all know that what we think, is correct. Always. If you enjoy the show, please consider joining our Patreon subscribers. That means for less than the cost of a beer, you get bonus content, exclusive merchandise, and special giveaways! Most importantly, you get to help us continue doing what we love. The Who Goes There Podcast is available to subscribe to on iTunes and Spotify. Not
