Remote Viewing Podcast: Episode #18
21/06/2011 Duración: 01h02minThe team decided to take a break from film this week, which of course means that Fiona went right to the cinema and saw Julia's Eyes. Elroy and Matt however followed the rules and focused on television shows that they wanted to catch up on, which was the topic for this week: What we're watching on TV. The crew talked about the TV shows that have been renewed for another season, and a few that haven't been. This topic ran horrendously long though, so this episode strays from the usual format, in that the last half of the show is a single block which consists of mostly TV talk, and some release dates and feedback crammed awkwardly into the last few minutes of the show. 14/06/2011 Duración: 01h03minMatthew was unable to make the recording this week, so we sent out a distress flare to Zak Hepburn, who you may remember as being our guest on episode #11. Zak, Fiona and Elroy had all been to the cinema to see the new JJ Abrams / Steven Spielberg sci-fi/action/adventure flick Super 8. Elroy also watched a new Green Lantern DVD release, and Fiona and Zak compared their notes on the film Bridesmaids. This week we also tackled the first of the recently collated listener suggested discussion topics: Great Films with Bad Endings! Turns out that a lot of listeners had a lot of films that they felt fit the category too! Links: Richard Dreyfuss reads the iTunes EULA The Madness of Mission 6 (Pac Man concept) Zak’s blog! 07/06/2011 Duración: 01h02minThis week Matt burnt some work bandwidth downloading the public domain film Last Man on Earth, in preparation for the Zombie discussion topic that Elroy put forward last week. Fiona also did some research and watched the recent remake of The Crazies. But going right to the head of the class was Elroy, who went beyond the call and watched Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, Diary of the Dead, Survival of the Dead, Re-Animator, La Horde, Dellamorte Dellamore and Resident Evil. The sad part was that he'd totally forgotten about the discussion topic, that's just a normal weeks viewing for him... weirdo! Fiona and Elroy also managed to make it to the cinema to see the latest instalment of the X-Men franchise: FIrst Class. 31/05/2011 Duración: 01h02minCalling for user input on discussion topics has given a wealth of topics for future episodes, but we grabbed the meta topic of 'Reviewers' off the top of the pile and talked about a couple of our favourite movie reviewers and how to get the best our of a reviewer (even if you don't agree with them). Matt took in a couple TV shows this week one he loved, one... not so much. Elroy defied Fiona's take on Pirates 4 from the last episode and ventured to the cinema... he'll probably listen to Fiona in the future. While Fiona ventured out to the cinema to see Hangover 2 and then dropped by her favourite blockbuster, dove into the bargain box, and came out with a copy of Pulse. 24/05/2011 Duración: 01h02minThe experiment of surprising each other with discussion topics took a horrible turn this week, when Matt sprung a Director feature on Fiona and Elroy. Much like the man's movies, the team's attempt to discuss the work of Michael Bay ended up being something of a train wreak. While convalescence on the couch this week, Elroy watched the hotly anticipated DVD release of RUBBER... Yeah, that movie about the tyre that goes around killing people. Elroy also managed to download the new release film The Tunnel without running foul of any copyright laws. Fiona made her way to our nation's capitol, she says it was for a friend's engagement, but we all know it was to buy fire crackers and porn... she also managed to find time to see the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie. 17/05/2011 Duración: 01h01minThis week's discussion topic, Adapting video games to movies, takes a rather chatty turn and ends up spanning the majority of the second half of the episode. Although, luckily they're related, we still managed to get a couple of feedback emails in. Fiona and Elroy both hit the cinema, between them seeing Burke and Hare, Insidious, and Your Highness, while Matt continued his digital distribution challenge and discovered a remastered James Bond classic. One of the gang also announces their engagement! That's right, one of the RV team is off the market... sorry 'gender non specific term designed to maintain suspense.' 10/05/2011 Duración: 01h03minWith this being a pretty quiet release week at the cinema everyone played catch-up, by visiting (or revisiting) some movies from the last month or so that they may have missed on their initial release. Elroy checked out Source Code and caught The Adjustment Bureau before it finishes it's run at cinemas. Fiona saw Paul, Arthur and Scream 4. while Matt checked out the food industry documentary Food Inc. In news the team discuss casting rumours for the live action AKIRA film, Expendables 2 gets a bad guy, a slice of Macaulay Culkin's lonely childhood goes on the market, and possibly the most underground movie ever made in Australia goes into production. Remote Viewing Podcast: Episode #11
03/05/2011 Duración: 01h03minThis was a special episode for the Remote Viewing team for a couple of reasons. 1/ we were lucky enough to record the episode from within one of our favourite cinemas here in Melbourne: The Palace Westgarth - home of the Friday night cult cinema sessions known as Cult Vault. We were also joined by the Curator of the Cult Vault, Zak Hepburn, for a discussion about classic cinema. 2/ Fiona returns from her three week absence, and fills us in on what she’s been up to during her sabbatical. Not the least of which was seeing the new Jake Gyllenhaal action flick, Source Code. Matt continues to his efforts to catch up on some recent films that he missed at the box-office by watching The Town. And in honour of the Classic Cinema discussion point Elroy digs out one of his all time favourite comedies from the early 80’s, Yellowbeard! 26/04/2011 Duración: 01h23sIrregular Fiona returns this week, as hopes for the return of regular Fiona continue to fade. Matt's spent the week watching a couple of big name movies that he missed last year, thanks to his purchase of an AppleTV, he talks about The Social Network, Kickass and how his iDevice compares with his Playstation when it comes to hiring movies digitally. Fiona and Elroy both managed to get to the cinema twice to catch a couple of fun, action-packed, new releases. The guys let Fiona pick the discussion topic for this week, so they're taking about writer/director/producer John Hughes and his body of work. 12/04/2011 Duración: 01h06minWe’re a man down… or rather a Fiona down, this week. So, the lovely Lian, blogger / owner of frocksandfroufrou.com, has joined Elroy & Matt, and leads them in a discussion about movie and television and its influence on fashion. Lian and Matt watched the Australian horror / faux-documentary LAKE MUNGO, as well as starting with the series BOARDWALK EMPIRE. Elroy made his way to the cinema to watch the somewhat controversial SUCKER PUNCH. 05/04/2011 Duración: 01h05minEnticed by Matt’s thoughts on BATTLE LA in last week’s episode, FIona decided to see it for herself, so this week we’re treated to her view of the blockbuster. Elroy maybe wishes that he’d seen something a little cheerier this week after watching NEVER LET ME GO at the cinema and previewing the blu-ray release of MONSTERS. This weeks talking point is the greatest one ever in the history of all things epic… Well, that’s if you believe the hype. The team, aided by a whole stack of listener feedback, discuss the pros and cons of the hype created by marketing. 29/03/2011 Duración: 01h01minIt was a horror week for Australian cinema, Fiona hired a couple of horror dvds, Elroy was horrified by Red Riding Hood, and Matt let the side down by watching nothing but cooking shows. The highlight of the recording session for episode #06 were the scrumptious and overly indulgent cookies being baked by Matt’s partner - the resulting sugar rush could be to blame for the rant that the team go on regarding the state of film funding and tax-breaks in Australia. This episode also features a discussion on the work of George Lucas, which may or may not also be sugar fuelled too. 22/03/2011 Duración: 01h04minThis week Remote Viewing achieves the huge milestone that is the fifth episode. Yup, that’s half way to making it to double figures! It’s also our first episode since going weekly and the team have all hit the cinemas and taken in a couple of the latest releases, including Battle: Los Angeles and Limitless. For some twisted reason Fiona springs the macabre discussion topic of “Animal Movies (in which the animals die) ” on the guys… and they play along, mostly out of fear for their own safety. Also discussed are the latest movie news and rumours, and some feedback takes us into video game and digital movie rental territory. 15/03/2011 Duración: 01h01minMatt and Fiona (and their respective partners) made time to see Rango right before recording episode 04, so with that fresh in their minds they discuss their thoughts on the ILM animated feature. Elroy struck out on his own and saw Nick Cage's medieval shenanigans in Season of the Witch. Fiona had a busy week, seeing Inside Job and The Adjustment Bureau, and making a public nuisance of herself by assaulting a random stranger with popcorn. The talking point this week is the Bechtel Test, what it is, what it's for, and some of the movies that do and don't pass it. Fiona has seen a kids movie, a foreign film, and an action blockbuster. Matt and Elroy have been watching TV. Elroy asks for help with understanding Alien reproduction, Fiona has some goodies to give aways (Listen to the podcast for details!). But mostly everyone just gets their rant on. 15/02/2011 Duración: 01h01minEpisode 2 is here just to spite all those people who said it’d never last! Fiona talks about 127 hours, lets fly with her opinion of Sanctum and Elroy’s been watching some utter garbage. To celebrate Valentines day the team talk about their favourite Romantic movies — with a little help from some twitter friends — and, as always, they discuss some of the latest movie news and rumours, latest cinema release dates, and Matt continues his obsession with Liam Neeson. 01/02/2011 Duración: 01h04minIn our first episode of Remote Viewing, Elroy, Matt and Fiona introduce themselves. They discuss the films True Grit and Catfish, take a look at some of the movie news and rumours that are doing the rounds at the moment. Then they debate whether or not audiences have tired of superhero movies, in the wake of The Green Hornet's failure to impress. Also included in this episode are Bill and Ted, some Indiana Jones trivia, stacks of 3D bashing, upcoming release dates, and just the right amount of Xena appreciation.
