"Titane" has had a tremendous amount of buzz since its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, where it went on to win the coveted Palme d'Or. Since then, it has been mystifying, terrifying those who have dared to see it, and in some cases, causing audience members to faint during their screenings. Beneath all of the film's more visceral moments, there is a sweetness that emerges, and it is here where the film's storytelling becomes the most rewarding. Julia Ducournau's follow-up film to "Raw" is uncompromising, with a clear directorial vision that's one of the most unique and intense you're likely to see this year. "Old Henry" is a lean, harsh, and violent western which premiered at the Venice Film Festival and is now being released theatrically by Shout! Studios. The film marks writer/director Potsy Ponciroli's first time exploring the western genre and his first time writing a dramatic feature outside of the broad comedies he's usually worked on. Having been no stranger to independent movies or westerns, character actor Tim Blake Nelson ("The Ballad Of Buster Scruggs") is remarkable as the titular character in Ponciroli's film. The movie musical has had quite a year in 2021, but no other is as joyous and free-spirited as "Everybody's Talking About Jamie," currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Robert Levon Been's father, Michael Been, previously worked with filmmaker Paul Schrader on "Light Sleeper" back in 1992. Now, nearly 30 years later, Schrader reached out to the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club musician for the music on his latest film, "The Card Counter." Initially, Robert was supposed to deliver one song. However, the collaboration with Paul led to Robert creating all of the music for the movie, which now stands as his first credit as a composer for film.
