Steve Cooper went for seven first team changes to stop the rot, and to an extent it worked as the Reds showed a better level of performance and effort to gain a point - and it could have been three as Harry Toffolo should have added to his first-half header which would surely have seen Forest get the win. It was nothing short of a disaster at Craven Cottage, as Forest produced arguably the worst performance of Steve Cooper's tenure, leaving the Head Coach looking nervously over his shoulder. Two goals each from Alex Iwobi and the Ghost of Raul Jimenez, plus a closer from Forest-supporting Tom Cairney, frankly embarrassed the Reds on a night with no redeeming features. Losing one home match feels unlucky, losing two in a row feels like something else. The Reds were deservedly defeated in a game where the first goal was clearly going to be important, and after the referee and VAR didn't spot a clear penalty on Ryan Yates, Dwight McNeil made the breakthrough. Forest suffered a rare home defeat, but in reality Brighton were the better team. Had it not been for a penalty and an, ahem, interesting red card for visiting skipper Lewis Dunk, the Reds would probably have been dead and buried. As it is, they will rue missed chances, with both Morgan Gibbs-White and Ryan Yates wishing they had done better. West Ham topped and tailed this game with soft goals which gave the hosts all three points. Inbetween, Taiwo Awoniyi and Antony Elanga had equalised, then put the Reds in front, before individual mistakes put the Hammers in control and left Steve Cooper desperately frustrated. It was back to winning ways for Steve Cooper's Reds as goals from Ola Aina and Orel Mangala led to a welcome three points after what felt like a long time without a victory. The Head Coach and his players got most things right on the day, and although Villa probably weren't at their best, a combination of team and fans kept them at bay. The sporting weekend was overshadowed by the sudden and tragic death of Panthers forward Adam Johnson, and all of us here at 1865 send our condolences to Adam's nearest and dearest. On the pitch, Forest were very much second best and were never in danger of getting their first win at Anfield since 1969. It started badly when Steve Cooper confirmed that Chris Wood would be injured for a few weeks, just as he was coming into form, and Forest had no recognised attackers. Two goals in four minutes put the Reds behind, with a comedy third conceded as Matt Turner lost his head. It was a disppointing outcome following a promising performance. The headlines will show that Chris Wood scored two goals before two late efforts from Luton saw them take a share of the spoils. It ended up honours even in a game that was last on Match of the Day, but Forest will be a bit disappointed not to have taken all three points after creating the better chances. Harry Toffolo had an effort from distance, before Morgan Gibbs-White hit the post, and Murillo almost scored a memorable goal with a mazy dribble and shot that was saved by the keeper. In the second half, Gonzalo Montiel was unlucky with two scissor kicks, but on the other hand, Jean-Philippe Mateta should really have scored and Jesurun Rak-Sakyi had his effort blocked by Toffolo. The headlines will show that ten man Forest came back to rescue a point, but really the Reds were the better team in the first thirty minutes and should have capitalised. As it was, after Moussa Niakhate's red card, the Bees took the lead with a soft goal - both the Forest defence and Matt Turner should have done better. Luckily, Brentford keeper Flekken had his own moment just a few minutes later, as Nico Dominguez diverted Harry Toffolo's cross to equalise. After ten minutes it looked like this was going the way of last season's match at the Etihad; in fact when Forest conceded the first goal they hadn't even managed to string two passes together and barely had 10% possession. However, they did manage to regroup a bit to keep the score down, and the second half was a different proposition after Rodri's red card. A disappointing result at the City Ground, as an attacking looking Reds line-up failed to capitalise, before Burnley took the lead through some neat play down the left presented Zeki Amdouni with his second goal against Forest in just a few weeks. Fortunately, some excellent hold-up play from Taiwo Awoniyi gave the ball to Callum Hudson-Odoi on the corner of the box, and the debutant curled a beauty into the top corner to make it honours even. A fabulous result for Steve Cooper's Reds, as substitute Antony Elanga calmly slotted home on the break after good work by Mangala, Yates and Awoniyi to win the ball and set the winger free. Forest didn't have much possession, but in truth Matt Turner didn't have that much to do, although the Reds will be grateful for Nicholas Jackson's glaring miss. Steven and Tom report on the Reds' first away victory of the season, which can be summed up by Mauricio Pochettino's (paraphrased) statement that teams that don't score don't win many matches. The Reds made an early exit from the Carabao Cup with a home defeat to Vincent Kompany's Burnley. It wasn't a match to remember, and Zeki Amdouni's 90th minute winner was the first shot on target.
