It was an opening day defeat at The Emirates, although a late rally from the Reds gave the home team a bit of a scare, when an electric break from Awoniyi and Elanga led to the big number 9 netting his first goal of the season. There's still work to do, as discussed by Steven Toplis, with George Edwards and Ellie Molloson, fresh back from north London. Waka waka eh eh? The game was probably second to the occasion as Forest's army of travelling fans supported the team to an away point. Having scored Forest's first Premier League goal this season, Taiwo Awoniyi also got the last, hitting double figures in his debut Premier League campaign. However, Will Hughes' header deflected off Willy Boly to earn the hosts a point, which meant that everyone was probably happy enough. THEY DID IT! WE DID IT! Forest preserved their Premier League status with a game to spare, as they defeated Arsenal at the City Ground, destroying the visitors' faint title hopes in the process. The game wasn't massively memorable, but the occasion was immense - the City Ground has never been so loud and the team, staff and fans were jubilant at the final whistle. A tense and battling performance earned the Reds a point, but for a while it felt like it could have been more. A header in each half from Taiwo Awoniyi put Forest in the lead, then pulled them back into contention, either side of Raheem Sterling's (preventable) brace. The circumstances of this defeat felt particularly damaging as Brentford scored two late goals, the second of which came after Danilo had to come off due to injury, leaving the Reds with ten men. To add insult to injury, the winning goal was checked and Yoann Wissa was actually marginally onside. It had all felt so promising after Danilo had given the Reds the lead on the stroke of half-time. A welcome three points, and five goals in two matches, as Forest beat Brighton with a battling second-half performance, showing that Forest are magic on and off the pitch. Despite missing a first half penalty and conceding another soft goal, Forest drew level in first half stoppage time through Pascal Gross' own goal, and this set them up to win through Danilo and Morgan Gibbs-White (with the second penalty of the match). The billionaires of Manchester United beat Nottingham Forest as £100m Antony and £80m Casemiro shone for the visitors. It was the Brazilian winger who took the headlines as he scored one and made one, and provided threat from the wing, while £70m Bruno Fernandes also peppered the Forest goal. A change in formation and personnel, but the same old result. Following a reasonable showing in the first half, a moment of madness from Jonjo Shelvey gifted a goal to Bertrand Traore. The Reds (yellows) were up against it from that moment on; substitutions were unsuccessful, and the misery was compounded when Forest went down to ten men after using all their subs. Forest took an early lead at Elland Road but after that never really laid a glove on a resurgent Leeds side. Orel Mangala's well-taken goal gave the travelling fans some hope, but Jack Harrison's soft equaliser and Luis Sinisterra's curler ensured that the hosts had the lead at the break.
