Nottingham Forest 1-0 Man United: The 1865 Match Report, April 2025
02/04/2025 Duración: 40minForest have done the double over Manchester United for the first time since 1992BC (Brian Clough). Anthony Elanga's superb solo goal after just five minutes gave us the lead, and Murillo's goal line clearance at the death kept it for us. In between Man United played well but had little threat as Forest's hard work and tactical guile pretty much kept them at bay. Rich Ferraro is joined by Baz to talk about the match and they are joined by Man United fan Ste Barnes to share the view from the opposition. We'll be back with our Friday 5 roundup and Aston Villa preview, followed by our match report as the games come thick and fast. Thanks for listening. Brighton 0-0 Nottingham Forest (3-4 on pens): The 1865 Match Report, March 2025
30/03/2025 Duración: 40minWOOF! Forest are going to Wembley! The Reds once again went through extra-time and penalties, and once again came out victorious as skipper Ryan Yates tucked away the last spot kick and sent Forest into the FA Cup semi-final, to play Manchester City. The match itself was not big on chances, but in truth Forest were the better team and mostly in control, although extra time had a few hairy moments. Then, despite Neco Williams' miss, Matz Sels, the captain, as well as Anderson, Hudson-Odoi and Milenković did the rest. Rich Ferraro is joined by a very excited George Edwards to report on the match, with a very magnanimous view from the home end by Brighton fan Rick. We'll catch you again after Tuesday's game against Man Utd. Ipswich Town 2-4 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Match Report, March 2025
17/03/2025 Duración: 35minIt was a strong victory despite the two late concessions away at Ipswich, as a six minute salvo fired Forest into an unassailable lead by half-time. Nikola Milenković's effort was supplemented by two goals by Anthony Elanga, while Jota Silva's late strike was sandwiched between two goals by the home team. In a match report recorded on Sunday before Morgan Gibbs-White's call-up to the England squad, Rich Ferraro is joined by George Edwards to celebrate well-taken goals, deft midfield passes and two-footed players. We'll be back to report upon the Women's derby day victory, as well as your Friday 5 roundup later this week. Come on you Reds! Nottingham Forest 1-0 Manchester City: The 1865 Match Report, March 2025
10/03/2025 Duración: 37minIt was a magnificent performance by Nuno's Reds as they nullified the threat of Manchester City, and then scored a late goal through Callum Hudson-Odoi to keep Forest ahead of the Sky Blues in third place. Yes, still. Baz is joined by Tom Newton to report on the game, the formation and tactics, and we are also joined by Crunk Chocolate (I'm not sure that is his real name) from the Shades of Blue Podcast, to share the view from the opposition. We'll be back later in the week to report on Forest's Women staying at the top of the table after another statement victory over Burnley, and we will have the Friday 5 roundup and our match report after the Ipswich game. ¡Vamos los Rojos! Nottingham Forest 1-1 Ipswich Town (5-4 on pens): The 1865 Match Report, March 2025
05/03/2025 Duración: 39minIt was another long night in the FA Cup, as the Reds played 120 mins and needed penalties to beat Ipswich Town. The home team will feel like the worthy winners, and once again all their efforts in the shoot-out were superbly slotted home. Ryan Yates had equalised George Hirst's header in regulation time, leading to the extra period, and Forest once again brought on some of the big guns to get over the line. Rich Ferraro is joined by Steven Toplis to discuss the match, the team and tactical switches, and also the celebrations at the end. Billy Davies - It Is What It Is: 1865 Podcast Special, March 2025
01/03/2025 Duración: 29minThe recent evening with Billy Davies saw him joined by Terry the Kitman, Wes Morgan and Lee Camp for tales from both of the Scotsman's spells at the club, split into the Doughty years and the Fawaz era. There were a few surprising takes and a bit of dirt dished on some key personnel around the club. Our men Steven, Tom and the Maradona of the Midlands were there, with Maradona presenting this special show looking back on what we learned and reflecting upon what feels like a turbulent spell for the club. Nottingham Forest 0-0 Arsenal: The 1865 Match Report, Feb 2025
28/02/2025 Duración: 29minIt was a stalemate at the City Ground as neither team created many chances of note. Forest will be happier, keeping a clean sheet after a poor defensive run, and for the second match in succession, substitutions in midfield gave the Reds a new lease of life. Rich and Baz discuss the match, defensive solidity, tactics and fatigue. We'll be back in your feeds very soon with our review of the Billy Davies event, Part 2 of our 1994-95 retrospective, and then our match report from the cup game against Ipswich. Come On You Reds! Newcastle Utd 4-3 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Match Report, Feb 2025
24/02/2025 Duración: 45minIt was a first half horror show from the Reds as, despite taking an early lead, they meekly conceded four goals to Newcastle in 45 minutes to forget. The second half was much better as the hosts dropped off and Forest regained some fight, and Nikola Milenković and a late Ryan Yates effort at least reflected the team's efforts to try and rescue the game. In our match report, the Maradona of the Midlands talks to Tom Newton who endured a long afternoon and a difficult journey home. Forest are still in third going into Wednesday's match against Arsenal, and we'll report back after the game. Fulham 2-1 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Match Report, Feb 2025
16/02/2025 Duración: 33minForest were second best at Craven Cottage as Marco Silva and his team delivered a lesson in tactics and performance, and in truth, the home team could have won by more goals. Emile Smith Rowe's first half header was cancelled out by a goal out of almost nowhere by Chris Wood, but despite a change in formation and tactics, the Reds had no answer for Calvin Bassey's second half effort. Rich Ferraro is joined by George Edwards to discuss the game, the formation and whether Nuno might have got things wrong on this occasion. George also has some high praise for Matz Sels, who kept the scoreline respectable. Exeter City 2-2 Nottingham Forest (2-4 on pens): The 1865 Match Report
13/02/2025 Duración: 36minPhew. A second-string Forest team were given a scare by League One Exeter, who scored an early goal in each half to hold the Reds to a draw after extra time. Despite Ibrahim Sangaré assisting both Ramón Sosa and Taiwo Awoniyi in the first half, Forest failed to create enough chances and had to bring some of the big guns off the bench. The match was held up by lengthy treatment for Awoniyi's head injury (thankfully he will be ok), and in the end, Premier League class showed in the penalty shoot-out as Wood, Gibbs-White, Anderson and Williams netted from the spot. Rich and George report back the morning after the night before, bleary-eyed and relieved. Our next podcast will be this week's Friday 5, previewing the league match against Fulham and bringing you the top five stories from the City Ground. Thanks for listening.
