Merry Valentine's day, here are some poems and tangents about love from a few centuries ago! Do you know where lovelorn sighs come from? Lorenzo does! When your heart is all aflutter, it heats up the air in your lungs and the air comes rushing out in a big, wistful sigh as you gaze soulfully at the one who houses your heart (which popped out of your ribcage and through your eyes into the eyes of your love when your gazes met). Nothing to do with oxygen at all!

In which Schoolcraft is slowly driven mad by cabin fever in Sault Ste. Marie during the winter, and I mangle lots of Ojibwe words along with a few French words. I just learned after finishing this podcast that I'm mispronouncing Sault! It should be 'soo', not 'salt'. Yes, I'm bad at words I've never heard said before. Count on me learning some basic Ojibwe before the next podcast so I can at least know how wrong I am when I try to read parts of this book.

Mr. Schoolcraft is unfairly criticized by some petty individuals who hide behind a false name regarding some narrative he published. A man is murdered by a sociopathic Indian. Mr. Schoolcraft is relocated up north as a representative among the Indian tribes. Various former presidents are absolutely riveted by fossils well before paleontology was a proper field. I skip a lot of boring stuff. Hooray, historical literature!

In which a geologist explores the Mississippi river on a barge, gets lost in the wilderness, and meets the man who founded the city of Austin, Texas. We also have a guy in 1818 talking about old school gentlemen. Old school is not a new term! Who knew?

The Soft-hearted Sioux and other tales from the Dakota-Sioux, as well as a short examination of how the US treated Native American tribes historically. Parents listening should review content beforehand and plan how to address any potential questions a child may have listening to these stories, as the themes are quite serious.
