It's the 150th anniversary of the Commonwealth of Canada and to celebrate a number of breweries have created a bevy of brews. Are they good? The barkeeps crack open a few to find out. Featured in this episode is Moosehead Anniversary Ale, Black Creek Historical Brewery's Canada 150 Best Bitter Ale and a collaboration between Central City Brewers and Garrison Brewing Company's called "New" Scottish Ale.  Also featured, some talk about sports (sports??? After more than a year, the Barkeeps sit down in a backyard astride one of the world's natural wonders to bring you the return of DrinkAlong. Yes. DrinkAlong. Ask your parents about it. It was a thing. In a triumphant return to form, Dave and Jeremy show that they're not too old to gripe about all manner of subjects ranging from possums to busting ghosts to perils of cold water amidst the ravages of time. Is 2016 the worst year ever for celebrity deaths? Was that a cat eating a raccoon? Along the way they drink not one, not two, but THREE amazing beers. Belly up and put on those headphones. Yes, it's been awhile since you last heard from the Barkeeps... Rest asured, Dave and Jeremy are doing just fine. This DrinkAlong LIVE was recorded in March 2015 at the SoCap Theatre with very special guest Brian Froud. You might know him from his many, many, many voices on cartoons ranging from Jimmy Two-Shoes to Total Drama. We're going to try some beer from Double Trouble Brewing and talk video games and The Thermals. All good stuff. Some notes about the sound... it's not great, but we've done our best to correct that. There was a group of six idiots talking through the start of the show. Just for future reference, if you're at a place called the SOCIAL CAPITAL THEATRE you might want to consider not being dicks and talking during a performance. It's a theatre, not a rec room, you stupid hipster douches. I don't care if the show you saw prior was an insuferable bore... DrinkAlong is for sitting quietly and enjoying. Last Fall Dave & Jeremy conducted the first signature beer challenge. This was a simple experiment where your hosts crafted two unique beers and unleashed them upon a handful of willing participants to review and ponder. The result, as you recall, was the naming of Jeremy's " The Cream Ale With Honey and Also With Ginger" and Dave's "Dolomite's Asshole". How could you not call that a success? In an effort to recreate that vibe, the Barkeeps headed to Fermentations on the Danforth and created two all original signature beers for a new round of challengers. Stepping up to the plate are two of our favourite bartenders, Brandi Robertson and Matthieu Rajchman. They brought their significant others with them (Ned and Saira, respectively) to round out what was a fun afternoon of sampling our two concoctions and finishing off with a sampling of a very special brew, the Westvleteren 12, one of the rarest on the planet. Try as we might... we can't seem to stay away from movies... so there's talk of those, too.  This is the first DrinkAlong to have Insane Clown Posse and Sir Paul McCartney. Recorded on May 4, 2014, this episode explores the theme of Half & Half beverages (that's beverages mixed with other beverages to create a third beverage) with our very special guests, Melyssa Ade (Interstate 60, Jason X) and Kelly Manchester (How Do You See Toronto?, The Screamening). This is a long one, but along the way, we're going to talk about some nerdy stuff (like buying signatures at conventions) some social stuff (like the seemingly new ressurgance of racism stories covered by the media) and some political stuff (like Rob Ford's chances in the mayoral election).
