Sunday night of our District Celebration. We were blessed with music from our district mass choir and preaching, once again, from Bishop Thomas Propes.

Today we were honored to have Bishop Thomas Propes, Secretary General of the Church of God, as our special guest speaker. Bishop Propes talks to us about Ruth, a woman not of Jewish heritage, but the woman that would bring about the family lineage of Jesus Christ. Through that, God shows us that He is not only Lord of the Jews, but he is Lord of all!

The story of Mephibosheth in the Old Testament is one of the greatest examples of Grace in the Bible. Even in his desolate and crippled state, he found grace that sustained him for the remainder of his life. The Grace of God is a powerful force for the beleiver. Grace, the undeserved favor of God will Sustain us by finding us when we are lost. 

In week 3 of our series "Sustained" Pastor Taylor continues with the subject of being sustained by the Word. This week we discuss the purpose of scripture and it's importance in our lives. Scripture also reveals God's person, God's plan, God's promises, and God's Power.

Last week Pastor Taylor talked about how we are sustained through the Word of God. This week Pastor Kevin Mills continues that message as he talks about the Bible being God's story which becomes a part of your story individually and, ultimately, becomes a part of our story as a people of God.

As Christians it is important for ous to understand our core values but also our core strength. It is important for us to be "strong in the Lord and the power of his might". We are given certain aspects of our faith to Sustain us. The first one, we will discuss, is through the Word of God.

Today we celebrate national "Welcome Home Day" - a time when we can invivte our friends and family, who have either never been to church or haven't been in a long time, to "come home" to the house of God. Truly, there is no place like home. And we here at Sumiton strive to make our church a "home" where everyone can experience God, discover their spiritual gifts and develop their talents, and have the opportunity to live out their faith on a daily basis.

In our society today it has become very easy to be disconnected with the world around us. We attempt communication in "140 characters" rather than by personal interaction. This is also true of the church at times. However, we as a church canoot allow ourselves to become disconnected with one another and just go through the routine of coming and going on Sunday mornings. One of the best and most effective ways we can build these vital relationships in the body of Christ is through small groups. 

As we wrap up our "I Love My Church" series we talk about how the Church, along with having Forward Thinking and being a church that is Always Together, must be a church that is "Word Focused" and "Prayer Centered" if we are to reach the world around us with the transformational message of Christ.

Week 4 of our "I Love My Church" series talks about a Church that has a "forward thinking" mentality. We appreciate the way things used to be and the ways God moved "back then", but if we are going to be a church that other people will love and be drawn to we have to move forward and expect new blessings from God.

Sunday AM District Celebration with special guests The Quint Shepherd Family.

Guest Speaker Jaime Massey gives a powerful message about the freeing power of the Holy Spirit. Many times in our lives we wander around in our own personal "wilderness" and have become stuck in our own bondage because we have forgotten or have put aside the power of God in our lives. But as Sister Massey points out, we have to take hold of the power that God has given us and declare freedom over sin and bondage in our life and the lives of those around us.

Week 1 of our new series "I Love My Church"

In celebration of Mother's Day we were honored to have Sister Pam Taylor as our guest speaker. She talks about the virtues of a Godly mother and how nothing brings more joy to that Godly mother than to see her children serving God with their lives.

This week Pastore Taylor talks about how in these changing times when it seems there is nothing you can count on anymore, God promises that you can always be assured of His Presence, His Protection, His Provision, and His Peace.

Today is Baptism Sunday here at Sumiton. Pastor Taylor speaks about being baptized into the life and death of Christ and the benefits it brings to your spiritual walk with God.
