I've spent the past three months auditioning for my first professional job and have come up with nothing other than the opportunity to be a trainee in some companies.  I feel as that I've already been a trainee for 4 years and my parents are refusing to continue to pay so much to have me be a trainee again with no promise of getting a job.  I have heard there are a lot of layoffs and few jobs right now.  Is this worse than normal and do you have any advice on my situation?  Find Megan Fairchild ~  website/Twitter/Instagram Do you have a question about Ballet? Is a répétiteur always present, or only for choreography of certain choreographers?  What is the role of ballet coaches?  I see some of this from YouTube posts from NYCB, SF Ballet, Royal Ballet, etc., and would love to know more. Today’s question come from Penny who wrote in to ask ~ Hi Megan – as the mother of a 15 year old dancer who is hoping to pursue a career in professional ballet, I am wondering if there are any “stats” on the percentage of dancers who are pursuing this goal actually “make it”?  We have heard over and over again that “there is a company for every dancer”, but to me it seems somewhat impossible for every child to achieve their dream.  Can there actually be room in the dance world for everyone?   I would love to hear your thoughts on this.  Sincerely, Penny from London   Megan really dives in deep on this common concern for parents. I love being compact and quick on my feet, but I have to admit that sometimes I’m disappointed when I watch myself dance in more adagio and lyrical combinations because the length just isn’t there.
