Being a Parent is Tough but it's also Important
26/02/2020 Duración: 10minIn life there are very few things that will outrival the privilege that leading and guiding others affords us. This isn’t solely true in our professional lives, it’s most important in our private lives. As a parent I am afforded an amazing privilege to guide my children through life and as any parent would know it’s a task that constantly leaves us feeling less than. We feel like we’re not achieving or not doing enough. In life this can lead us down a slippery path where we tend to do everything for our kids. We constantly seek to make them happy because their happiness is equated to our success. The problem here is we create a situation where our children don’t have resilience and they have no tools in their tool box when it comes to needing to dig deep and problem solve. We might make ourselves feel better but ultimately we’re setting our children up for failure later in life and that’s very unfair. So something needs to change and that something is US. We all want to change the world .....
24/02/2020 Duración: 11min“Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself.” – Leo Tolstoy With 2020 starting as a year of drama, trauma and tragedy I watch closely to the reactions of people through social media, the lens we all see most often with the worlds views on things. There’s rage, anger, uproar, people are offended and with this outrage comes thousands upon thousands of opinions on how the world can be a better place and what the government and politicians need to do. In fact what a everyone else needs to do. But I wonder how many are making any adjustments or changes themselves? How many are truly trying to make themselves better? Literally the only person or thing they have complete control over. How many have the opinions on what will fix the world but can’t look in the mirror or sit for 20 minutes once a week and journal to look at what went well, what didn’t go well and what improvements they can make in their own life? It’s kind of ironic isn’t it? Maybe it’s time we cleaned up our own back

Children Account for 1/3 of our Population
19/02/2020 Duración: 08minChildren account for one third of our population but all of our future. Last week I went out and spoke to 250 Year 11 boys and then backed that up with another talk to 200 Year 12 boys at a school in Brisbane called Churchie. It was one of my favourite talks in recent memory because these boys were genuinely interested. They were open and receptive but not only that, the staff were equally into what we discussed. I felt honoured to stand before these young men because they’re a part of the future of Australia. As a community I feel we need to take much more responsibility for our future which means equipping our younger generations with the tools to succeed and in fact exceed what we have done in our tenure on this world. Don’t just think of our own children but all children. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Surround Yourself with Lions
17/02/2020 Duración: 06minEverybody wants to eat but few are willing to hunt. Surround yourself with those on the same mission as you. These are two quotes I saw with the back drop being pictures of Lions. Why do so many great motivational picture quotes these days feature lions? Lion Quotes are popular because the Lion is a symbol of personal strength, and courage and leadership. Those who are competitive, and strive for the highest level of success in sport and life relate to the lion, as it is the dominant animal of the jungle. I look at the people in my team and realise I am surround by lions and lionesses. Let me tell you about that epiphany and further explore why your environment matters. Well Said or Well Done?
12/02/2020 Duración: 07minTo assess the quality of thoughts of people, don't listen to their words, but watch their actions. - Amit Kalantri Well said is better than well done. That's the standard I witness a lot So often people talk to me about the standards they’re setting. The non-negotiable in their life. The hashtag #noexcuses. But when it’s time for the rubber to hit the road is excuse after excuse about how hard their life is. How they didn’t get enough sleep. They haven’t felt 100%. Someone in their life is unwell. They haven’t been in a good headspace. They may sound like good ‘reasons’ (insert excuses here). But all they truly are, are the reasons you are where you rather than where you say you want to be. They’re an insight into why nothing has changed for you (or ‘them’ not you, the ‘other people’ this happens to

It's a Love Hate Thing
10/02/2020 Duración: 07minPeople will love you, people will hate you, and none of it will have anything to do with you. — Abraham Hicks It’s human nature to want to be liked and accepted by others. Whether we like it or not we’re a herd animal and not being accepted by the herd, through past generations, literally meant your life and safety was on the line. It meant survival. But today things are different. If people don’t like you, don’t accept you, it’s not going to put your safety at risk. Your survival isn’t on the line. Knowing this, it makes sense to not focus on being accepted by all the people all the time (which is impossible by the way), but rather to be accepted by the right people for you, where you’re at, in this particular space and time in your life. Fears are Educated into Us
05/02/2020 Duración: 09min“Fears are educated into us, and can, if we wish, be educated out.” That is, we are taught what to fear and sometimes this is a good thing. Look before you cross the road. Don’t run with a knife. But other times they are unresourceful as in ‘don’t do that you might hurt yourself. Get down from there you might fall’ These imply falling is dangerous even from a height that won’t do any damage and a fear of heights ensues. The fact that you MIGHT hurt yourself then creates a fear of things that may never happen but we can’t be too careful. The result – we don’t try things that could potentially fail or hurt us. Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage.” However “Fear defeats more people than any other single thing in the world.” See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Is Intuition a Good or Bad Thing?
03/02/2020 Duración: 08min“I believe in intuitions and inspirations...I sometimes FEEL that I am right. I do not KNOW that I am.” – Albert Einstein Intuition or that GUT FEELING is not a scientific way of making decisions but it helps us to know when something doesn’t FEEL right even if everything else about it seems right. But there’s a trap with intuition too. It’s where we don’t do enough back ground or research, but have a fear of doing something or perhaps feel that a pattern means something more than it does. We then use this GUT FEELING to say no to opportunities or to find problems and fault where none truly exist. We convince ourselves that intuition told us which way to go when truthfully we actually wanted to believe something or make a certain decision so we held a bias toward that outcome anyway. Our Gut simply becomes the tool we use to not make have to take full responsibility for that decision. Are You Working Hard? Really?
29/01/2020 Duración: 05minResults come from consistently showing up and doing what needs to be done. Not from what you perceive as you doing the work but actually doing the work. Is your time spent on tasks that get results, ie the work that matters? Or are you quote unquote working your butt off, but don’t have the results to show? It’s time to have a long hard look at what you’re doing and the results it’s yielding. The True Cost of Indecision
15/01/2020 Duración: 09minMore is lost through indecision than is lost through making the wrong decision. – Tony Soprano In your life time you have lost more through not being willing to make a decision than if you have made the wrong decision and a few things didn’t turn out ok. You’ve missed opportunities in your professional life whether career or your own business. You’ve missed personal opportunities to grow which in turn would have served you well in other areas of life. You’ve missed amazing friendships and relationships simply because you wouldn’t or couldn’t make the decision to jump and have a go at something. Ben Roberts Smith once famously said “The most important thing when faced with making a tough decision, is to make one.” The problem is perception. You don’t realise the cost behind indecision because you’re not aware of the amazing opportunities you’ve missed out on. You’re not luckier or unluckier than anyone else. You either make decisions and take the chance to create something good or you choose safety and never m

Understanding the Difference between Adversity and a Challenge
13/01/2020 Duración: 07minMy goal for myself and anyone listening to this podcast is to be as well-rounded as possible so when life presents us with whatever opportunities or challenges it does – we can handle it. Well-Rounded to me means working on physical fitness, mental fitness, being resilient, having good relationships, finding harmony with my work and private life and ensuring I find plenty of time to develop myself as well. If we’re not well-rounded then we miss out on opportunities that come our way and worse, when challenges come, we get knocked off our feet and don’t always know how to stand back up. If I can build us, you and I, into well-rounded people then I have taken a step toward Building Better Humans and that’s a movement I can be proud of. Every time I am challenged I view it as a chance to grow. Every time I have win in life I view it as something I worked towards. It was never just luck because luck isn’t something we control and I don’t want to give my power up in that regard. See acast.com/privacy fo

Everything in life has a price
08/01/2020 Duración: 09minEverything in life has a price. You can have whatever to want so long as you’re willing to pay the price to have it. You can go into debt for the most extravagant of things. You can work harder and for longer to afford the things you want. You will pay in cash for SOME THINGS but in time (blood, sweat and tears) for EVERYTHING. When you want something, ask yourself this question – what will it cost me? Then ask yourself, am I willing to pay that price? Is it really worth it to me? Often the answer is no but we don’t ask that question so we go along and thing we want something but actions prove we’re not willing to pay the price, to make the sacrifices, and so we never actually achieve the goal. Are you willing to pay the price? There's No Point Being a Good Person
06/01/2020 Duración: 07minThere’s no point being a good person if you’re not a smart one too. Because when you’re simply a good person. People with bad intentions are going to walk all over you. When you’re a smart person too, you don’t tolerate BS from other people. You pick their intentions and know your worth, when the two don’t match you have the ability to walk away not be walked all over. Let's Live Forwards in 2020 - Merry Christmas
24/12/2019 Duración: 14minLife can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards. At this time of year we reflect on all that has happened in the past 12 months. How was 2019 for me? Did I achieve the things I thought I would, hoped I would or planned to? With that we can look at our behaviours to understand why things turned out the way they did BUT this is just how we understand our life and our actions. To truly live we actually have to LIVE FORWARDS. We have to go into 2020 with the intention of being present in the moment and having plans for the future. We just can’t get stuck in the past whether it’s good or bad because we can’t change anything there and living there actually rob s us of the joy that exists in the present. Make 2020 the year you decided to present in your own life. Notice the small things because honestly, they’re actually the big things when we look back on life. NEW YEARS REVOLUTION 2020 Merry Christmas everyone and thanks for the support and friendship throughout 2019. See acas
